....as I had hoped. Based on the descriptions and comments, I had high expectations for Marron Chic and was unfortunately disappointed.
On me, it initially smells like bitter cocoa with leather-soaked oranges. Oh no, I really don't like that. After about 10-15 minutes, the scent does improve when the iris makes an appearance; the bitterness lessens, and the composition becomes slightly more floral and especially powdery without becoming a touch sweeter. The base also develops rather herbaceous, smoky, a bit resinous. It tends to lean more towards the oriental direction, but unfortunately for me, nothing becomes gourmand or cozy, just still very powdery, but without a chocolate note. There is a leather-like note that runs throughout the entire scent progression, which is not listed at all. I can very well imagine Marron Chic on a man, as it reveals a rugged facet on me.
Nevertheless, it is a very interesting scent with an exciting scent progression, which I, however, do not want to wear on my skin. It just doesn’t fit, very unfortunate.
One good thing came from this test, though; I have now found my gem from this series, namely: Bouche Baie, which I like extremely well.
That's exactly how this scent is-vetiver and iris and some woods make it so leathery. I guess it's supposed to smell like chestnuts? Unfortunately, you didn't rate it by percentage. This fragrance is disappointing.
Give it a few more chances. It took me a long time to discover this scent for myself; it started with "I really don't like this," but now it's (almost) a must-have for me that I desperately wanted in my collection.
I can only agree with Flori on the first two. However, Maron Chic is still on my wishlist. I hope it doesn't actually smell like bitter cocoa and leather-soaked oranges. We'll see ;O)
