Conquest by the Sultan

To begin with: I am not a fan of vetiver.
Earthy, green notes are interesting on others, but smelling like vetiver myself? Never ever..

I wanted to try something that doesn't match my typical taste, just to bring some new colors into my collection. I had read a lot about the house of Nishane and had already tested the hit "Hacivat." This time, however, it should be something completely different, possibly a fragrance that might "rub some people the wrong way" and doesn't appeal to everyone directly..

Said and done - Sultan Vetiver was ordered.

Packaging:

Very good. This is exactly what you expect from a niche house. Because as we know, the eye always eats with it, and this is also the case here. Super quality, super beautiful, and simply high-end.
Moreover, the "new" curved caps of the brand are a feast for the eyes and are worth seeing.

Fragrance:

It starts off very spicy and is quite dense at the beginning.
Vetiver is truly present from top to base, but at first, it is not so gentle, rather aggressive in my opinion.
However, this settles relatively quickly, and a pleasantly green, grassy scent emerges that almost reminds one of a walk through fields or a forest. It also becomes increasingly softer without losing its potency.
Even though I find it more of a fragrance for spring or summer, it is very versatile and can certainly also be appreciated in the darker months.

Performance:

For at least 5 hours, it's beast mode.
Even after several hours, I could still smell it outdoors quite distinctly, and I do not have the most sensitive nose. For the duration, the sillage is really super good..
After that, it fades a bit. For people who are right next to you, it remains perceptible. Here, I think, the density of an extrait comes into play.
I could really still smell it on my sweater 4-5 days later.. So in terms of longevity, it's truly maximum.

Conclusion:
To return to my title, "Sultan Vetiver" has definitely conquered my heart..!
I don't think everyone can appreciate it, so I advise against a blind purchase. Unfortunately, I also cannot understand why it is still so "unknown," even though fragrances like "Encre Noir" (which is also a vetiver scent and I did not like at all) are everywhere. There are truly worlds apart.. The quality and the scent development prove this..

I look forward to warmer weather when I will wear it with a T-shirt & sunglasses..
In this sense, stay healthy and cheerful :)

Best regards

Somehow, I'm intrigued by it. I've heard a lot of mediocre things about Nishane, but that makes me want to find a lovely scent from them even more. Adding it to my wishlist, and that's a really nice, precise comment!

For me, this is the most beautiful vetiver scent. It excites me every time - so I'm totally with you ;-)
Enjoy it lots!

@Einfachich
Thank you both so much :)
You're definitely right, the comparison isn't fair just based on price...
But I'm still a bit surprised by how much less known this one is, considering its popularity :) Maybe it's just due to the price...

Well described, but the comparison with Encre Noir is a bit off ;-) Vetiver isn't just vetiver. The Guerlain can't really be compared to this one (not even in terms of price), and I don't know any other vetiver that has such a pronounced absinthe note like the Sultan.

Since I'm a big fan of vetiver, testing this one is a must (it's been on my list for a while). Comparing it to Encre Noir is fine, as they're both vetiver, but it's not exactly fair price-wise ;-)
Great comment!
