A Sultan Indeed!
Sultan Vetiver appears to be amongst the most polarizing fragrances. Informed and forewarned by many reviews, that this could smell really bad or really good. I decided to blind buy it and be surprised. And suprised I was. It's super earthy! And much like nature it has a certain unpretentious beauty that I find alluring, calming and invigorating. With four vetiver types it would be easy to think this is a one dimensional fragrance but no. Between the four types you are taken on a journey through the cleanest and the dirtiest aspects of vetiver and everything in between. The additional notes seem to be servants of the vetiver. Distinct yet highlighting and complimenting the various nuances of each vetiver type.
A certain sophistication is communicated not only in how the scent smells but how it behaves. Wild yet tamed. Not by outside forces but has full possession of itself. Composed, elegant and refined. Yet artless, raw and wild. It has become one of my favorites and I do consider it a unique gem and yes a masterpiece. It's departure from the typical and usual is probably the same reason it is both loved and hated. I doubt a better introduction to this house could've been had by me. So far I consider this to be the best take on vetiver. A Sultan indeed!
