All fresh, comrade?
Hey guys,
today I’m introducing you to a rather unknown fragrance again. I know that interest in such scents is usually quite low, but I thought I could present an unknown fragrance about once a week; maybe there are some interested parties after all (hey, you’re my fans, so please read what I’m writing here!!!! :DD).
So, now I come to a fragrance called “Arbat” from the Russian manufacturer Nóvaya Zaryá. I found hardly any information about this scent and I’m curious to see how it smells. By the way, it seems to be somewhat older; just from the bottle, one might think it dates back to the Cold War :D
Anyway, Arbat is both a district and a street name in Moscow. The special thing is that this street or district has existed for over 500 years, making it one of the oldest still-preserved streets and districts in the capital of Russia. In its early days, it was more populated by craftsmen, but over time, Arbat developed more and more into a residential area for the nobility and artists, and even today, Arbat is said to be a sought-after residential area.
Well, that’s enough about that; as always, you’re a bit wiser now and can focus on the fragrance here :D
The scent starts with general citrus notes, so bergamot, lemon, and I think also orange. Alongside, there are woody notes that quickly blend with fresh-aquatic scents, creating the impression of a (pleasantly smelling) shower gel. In the background, there’s a slight, musky sweetness present. The scent is also quite synthetic, but I find that the synthetic aspect hardly bothers here and is comparable to synthetic fresh scents from brands like Calvin Klein, Davidoff, Gaultier, etc…
Later, the citrus fruits become less distinguishable from one another, but they still provide a certain freshness to the fragrance, especially together with the aquatic notes. The synthetic aspect slightly decreases but is always present. And due to the woody notes, the scent has a slightly spicy aura and doesn’t dissipate too quickly in the base, at least for a summer fragrance. All in all, a scent that is okay and hardly changes from the first spray to the end.
So, this fragrance is actually quite okay. It feels incredibly familiar because it smells like several synthetic-aquatic mainstream scents from well-known brands that you can find everywhere, and it can easily compete with these brands (like Calvin Klein, Davidoff, etc…).
Of course, one shouldn’t expect too much, as it smells like a standard fresh fragrance and therefore doesn’t represent anything special, but for those who particularly enjoy using the aforementioned fragrance brands in summer, they can just as well reach for this scent here, as the sillage and longevity are in the same range as the more well-known brands; well, provided, of course, that you can find the scent! And if not, it’s not a big deal; you don’t necessarily have to test it.
That’s it from me, and I wish you all a nice weekend or a great carnival if you’re celebrating and so :)

The scent:
Oh great, no fragrance pyramid, so I’m left here alone with my nose and have to try to determine what exactly I perceive :DThe scent starts with general citrus notes, so bergamot, lemon, and I think also orange. The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is quite weak, like most fresh fragrances with citrus notes, and is therefore only perceivable from close range. The longevity is rather short; after just three to four hours, it’s already quite weak. This is typical for summer fragrances, although three to four hours is still quite okay for fresh scents, as there are also perfumes that you can hardly smell after just an hour! The bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical and has a tall, gold-black-red label with a logo and name (in Cyrillic letters) on the front, making it look like a bottle from the Soviet Union during the Cold War, as I mentioned earlier. Well, it’s something different :D However, it does look a bit cheaply made…So, this fragrance is actually quite okay. It feels incredibly familiar because it smells like several synthetic-aquatic mainstream scents from well-known brands that you can find everywhere, and it can easily compete with these brands (like Calvin Klein, Davidoff, etc…).
