Quickly buy before Brexit ...
I recently ordered some perfume samples of various patchouli scents again; among others, this one that I discovered while browsing on Amazon. The manufacturer is an English company based in London. I assume it is a one-man operation. Possibly a hobby perfumer who sells his products online. In addition to Amazon, there is also a dedicated online shop. All scents can be purchased as 2 ml samples. Flacons are available in 15 ml, 30 ml, and 50 ml sizes, with a cost of around one euro per ml. From 100 ml onwards, it becomes a bit cheaper. Since ODORE MIO products can only be ordered directly from the manufacturer in London, the shipping costs are correspondingly high; for the sample, you have to pay at least 5,- €. The flacons cost 15,- €.
Before I attempt to describe or evaluate the scent, I must preface that I am an absolute patchouli fan. My small collection consists almost exclusively of patchouli perfumes and oils. Hardcore patch. Preferably pure.
According to the manufacturer, there are only a few ingredients in Patchouli Royal. In addition to three different patch oils, there are labdanum, vanilla, amber, and alcohol as ingredients. It is emphasized that only natural substances are used. The scent is described as warm, spicy, and woody. It is said to be floral, musky, and fruity. After a spray from the standard sample tube with vaporizer and about 2 ml content on my wrist, I distinctly smell a decent portion of patchouli, which immediately blends with a sweet vanilla note. A fruity aroma joins in. Pineapple. Whether it is actually pineapple, I will leave open. To me, it smells like patchouli + vanilla + pineapple. Very pleasant and delicious! Almost gourmand. Creamy. The patch is not dominant but always present. Overall, a very nice scent that never feels overpowering and sporadically releases a hint of its aroma in a breeze to the nearby surroundings. More attar than perfume. In contrast to the sillage, the longevity of Patch Royal is significantly higher. Sprayed in the evening, the EdT was still well noticeable on my wrist before the morning shower. I could not detect a scent progression. After about 2 hours, the sweetness of the vanilla recedes a bit to give the patchouli a bit more space.
Conclusion: A practical unisex perfume with a slight tendency towards the feminine side. Not just for patch fans but still a patchouli-dominant perfume without hippie-gothic-cellar pretensions. A very appealing scent that is worth every cent and does not need to hide behind much more expensive niche perfumes. If only the high shipping costs weren't there. Personally, I find it too tame, and that's why I applied one of my patchouli oils again today. Pure!
