Not a Thin Green Tea

When I think of a jade perfume, I imagine something different from what Olivier Durbano has presented here. Jade is light green, delicate, noble, and shimmering. So, light green notes would fit, perhaps a little light floral scent, maybe subtle green citrus freshness, perhaps lime. But such a generic scent as I have sketched here probably does not align with Olivier Durbano's intentions. The jade perfume is also strong and bitter.

This dark green-colored juice is a daring combination of ethereal notes (mint), a dark, woody patchouli-vetiver accord, musky sweetness, light floral depth (jasmine), and far too strong spices. And there is even tea. Green tea and mate somehow fit with jade, and despite the strong surroundings, I can pick out these delicate notes.

Of course, this extreme, bitter scent is interesting. One might find it magnificent and still shudder in disgust. For me, it’s all too much of a jumble. Moreover, it reminds me of licorice, which I do not like in perfumes at all. As a fragrance experience, it’s brilliant, but I certainly won’t wear it.
