A truly fleeting encounter
Yes, that was our encounter. Brief, truly fleeting. A powerful moment at the start that I enjoyed. You came and you went. What a pity, I was really looking forward to you. A while ago, when I ordered a fragrance, there was a scented card of an Optico fragrance in the package. It smelled intensely of Bazooka. Perhaps some members still remember this chewing gum. It definitely smelled interesting, and for me, Bubblegum Chic by Heeley has always been the epitome of Bazooka in olfactory form. I had Optico on my "mental shopping list." A few days ago, I spotted the Discovery Kits, and fortunately, they were also on sale. When I saw the listed coffee note in Costa Rica, I thought, "Yes, this could work for us." Intense Cafe is my favorite in that regard. I had also tested other fragrances with coffee notes, but Intense Cafe was my favorite, especially considering the "big rose cinema" in its scent progression. So today, I applied both fragrances to test side by side.
I really like the coffee note in Optico. Shortly after, I could also smell the rose, and then our fragrance rendezvous was already in cool down. While I can still smell the rose very well three hours after spraying Montale, there is hardly anything left from Costa Rica. I have to bring my nose directly to my skin, and then unfortunately, I can smell very little. Or maybe I really can't smell anything anymore, and I'm just imagining how it could be? In the top note, I perceive neither jasmine, nor rose, nor geranium. It goes straight into the heart note, and that is just coffee, a pleasant scent that makes me crave a freshly brewed espresso. It has the touch of "I'm standing at Motta in Milan in the Galleria at the bar, inhaling this delicious bean tango." Oud and amber? Niente. The cedar note? Where has it gone? Amber and musk? Also missing. What a pity, what a pity, what a pity. It could have been something between us. So Intense Cafe remains my first choice, even though its coffee note reminds me more of a coffee refined with vanilla. Yes, a little milk can go in there too, but it won't be a vanilla milk coffee. The rose in the further scent progression of Montale is simply wonderful. I am still curious about the other fragrances from Optico.
