Good evening, you always sniffing freaks. Summer is coming to an end and I'm sure it makes you all sad, right? Well, to be honest, not me. My summer wasn't that special, and the heatwaves didn't exactly improve my mood, so I'm actually looking forward to autumn, for example, to carve pumpkins again in October during Halloween and eagerly await what new Halloween offerings Yankee Candle might have. But I'm digressing. We still have summer, and today there was even some sunshine again, so I will present a summery fragrance. And what a fragrance it is!
Today it's about Giordani Gold Essenza by Oriflame, a rather inexpensive fragrance brand. But what they have created here is simply wonderful, and I hope that other citrus fans will like it too. With such a fragrance, you can't help but wish for the hot summer to come back… well, hypothetically speaking, since I currently do NOT wish for summer back, mu ha ha ha… *sigh*
So, let's get to the scent!
**The Scent:**
The fragrance begins with a wonderfully fragrant mandarin that smells juicy and delicious, reminiscent of the sweet flesh of these tasty fruits. Shortly after, a zesty and also very authentically smelling lemon joins in. Both scent notes combined smell wonderful, fresh, and simply superb. In addition, the fragrance has a clean note that feels nice and, by the way, does not smell soapy. The oranges or orange blossoms remind me a bit of blood oranges and are very pleasant like the mandarins, just more sour instead of sweet.
A few moments later, the scent becomes a bit warmer and even sweeter. Neroli gains a bit of intensity, you can smell light, woody notes, and the indicated green almond is also hinted at. Yes, if you smell closely (and also know that green almonds are supposed to be in here), you can indeed detect a nice, green note reminiscent of green almonds.
Later, the fragrance remains somewhat fruity; I can still smell mandarins, but the lemons have noticeably weakened. The sweetness of the amber enhances the fragrance, just like a light hint of musk. In the end, the scent is a bit sweeter than citrusy, but always light, which allows it to finish quite fresh.
**The Sillage and Longevity:**
The sillage is somewhat moderate, but that's okay, after all, the fragrance has many zesty citrus notes that in most cases have a weak projection. The longevity is actually okay, as you can still smell the fragrance after six to seven hours, but already after half of that time, the scent seemed quite weak in terms of sillage.
**The Bottle:**
The bottle comes across as somewhat more high-quality than most other Oriflame bottles and is rectangular, with slightly curved sides that become wider in height. The rectangular cap looks like a gilded piece of wood and is framed between two clear plates. All in all, everything looks elegant and fits well with the fragrance name. A beautiful bottle!
Okay, so I found this fragrance very, very nice. It smells fresh, but not just citrusy, also beautifully of amber and woods, and above all radiates a wonderful Mediterranean aura that reminds one of great vacation spots in countries like Italy, Greece, Turkey, etc. Where you get a sunburn on beautiful beaches just because you forget to apply sunscreen while staring at "beach beauties" (phew, serves you right, right? NO!!! :DD).
Or where you stroll through the old town in the evening, enjoy the great atmosphere, and buy all sorts of useless souvenir junk like figures with giant penises or frogs that you can make noise with by using a wooden stick on their backs! :D
Yes, vacation is something wonderful… well, at least if you have someone to go with you, bah! I hope that some of you had a great vacation this year; on the other hand, I've been annoyed by the miserable heatwaves here, so I'm also glad that summer is almost over. But: For next summer, I would recommend you ladies to keep this fragrance in mind, as it really smells lovely. Nothing really extraordinarily special, but just pleasantly fragrant! Yes, give it a try.
So, that's it from me again. I wish everyone a lovely evening. See you "around"! :)
I thought it was really great too - perfect for summer, sun, and beach, you described it perfectly. Luckily, the really hot weather is over, and the Indian summer (which is exactly MY season *cough*) can come. :D
