Golden Underdog

When I first sprayed Flame of Gold, it was a cool autumn evening. The streetlights reflected in the wet cobblestones, and I was on my way to a meeting that meant a lot to me.

The first spray was like a flash of bergamot and pink pepper swirling through the air, a tingling moment full of anticipation. It felt as if someone had drawn a golden thread through the darkness, and I could simply follow it.

As I walked, the warmth of amyris and oak enveloped me like a cloak. Not a heavy one, but one that gave me poise. I noticed how I unconsciously straightened my shoulders, how my step became firmer. People turned their heads, not conspicuously, but just enough for me to notice as if they perceived the scent as a mysterious signal.

But it was only when I sat in the café and the first minutes had passed that the heart of the fragrance revealed itself: dark chocolate, tonka bean, a hint of suede. Suddenly, everything was soft, almost intimate. It didn’t smell of luxury in a loud sense, but of a quiet, familiar richness. Like a secret memory of winter evenings, of a leather couch, of the crackling wood in the fireplace.

My companion smiled as he leaned in and didn’t ask which perfume I was wearing, but simply:
“Why does it suddenly smell so warm in here?”

I knew he sensed the fragrance without being able to name it. Flame of Gold was no longer just a perfume; it was a mood, a presence that stood between us in the room.

On the way home, the city had grown quieter, and the scent still clung to me like a memory that didn’t want to let go. I sniffed my wrist and thought: This is not just a fragrance. This is a golden shadow that remains.
