A Musky Gem

After application, this fragrance starts with amber and patchouli, predominantly resinous and slightly sweet. Additionally, some synthetic notes are perceptible, which fortunately dissipate after a few minutes. The synthetic aspect is only noticeable when the nose is brought close to the applied area.

From the heart phase onward, musk takes center stage, also because the two aforementioned components fade away into nothingness. All remaining ingredients are composed around the musk, causing the scent profile to shift from resinous and slightly sweet to powdery-creamy. By this point, a subtly masculine and erotic note accompanies the wearer.

As the fragrance develops towards the end of the drydown, it transforms through various woods into a powdery-creamy-woody scent. The woods complement the musk in such a way that it unfolds magnificently, masculinely, and not just simply pleasing. Soapy notes? None.

Since the sample can only be applied by dabbing, the longevity is about 8 hours. With a bottle featuring a typical sprayer, the sillage and longevity could be stronger or even more enduring.

As Angua rightly noted, this fragrance does not demand attention, does not shout or whisper, but accompanies and complements the wearer. From my perspective, I do not perceive it as dark or gloomy, but rather as composed with lightness, thoughtfulness, and sophistication. In terms of craftsmanship, this composition is felt to be elegant, serious, and self-assured, making it suitable for the office. It is also recommended for women with certain preferences.

The EdP could definitely find a place in my collection; to my regret, a 75 ml bottle is available either at Harrods or through the manufacturer's e-shop for no less than £200/$270. Other sources? Not found.
