Totally good gem!
It's a terrific budget perfume, and a hidden gem. It is a type of very classic like Shalimar, L'Heure Bleue, Chantilly, L'Origan, Emeraude ... and so on. The difference is that Oscar has more cloves and lavender, less roses and ylang-ylang, so I think it's a unisex inclined towards a bit masculine.
It's pretty soapy but not a detergent type, slightly smokey but not ashtray type. It has a sweet barber shop atmosphere and the good balance of gorgeous white flowers and some powdery thing. The projection range is not very wide but it has a decent longevity. Anyway I bought a 2 oz bottle for about $ 18 and it was a very satisfying deal. I will remove Habit Rouge from my routine and wear Oscar for the time being.

Ah yes. Sorry for the confusion. I just said that Oscar also felt like unisex. I live in the Far East and in here, standard masculinity/femininity will be different from Europe or North America. For example, a man wearing L'Heure Bleue or No.5 L'Eau in South Korea is not unusual at all.

Masculine??? Are you sure it is Oscar de la Renta you bought? I find it a very feminine fragrance that may be something of an homage to L'Heure Bleue. I do not detect any smoke in it, either. It is a beautiful, feminine Floriental.
