An Absolute Lucky Beetle
Not long ago, I had the pleasure of visiting beautiful Munich. Of course, I was looking forward to it. Exploring the lovely city, attending a great concert, meeting a very dear perfumer, and of course, Brückner was also on the list.
Finally, the day arrived. My better half stocked up on reading material and settled comfortably with a coffee in the sun, well aware that it might take a while.
So, equipped with enough time and anticipation, I headed straight to Brückner.
A young, clever man was already waiting there as if he knew that a lot of work awaited him. Even before he could properly ask what I would like, I had already expressed my wishes in one sentence. Everything that we don’t have. Of course, the fragrances from Brückner himself were also included, which I can’t test at home.
Time passed, and the young man was already drawing on his reserves of patience, having certainly earned his evening off that day. I was particularly taken with the Brückner fragrances from Micallef. Everything had to be tested, except for this one. It was supposed to be oriental. Not really what I was looking for. So completely without flowers and oriental. No matter, after I had already tested everything, one more wouldn’t hurt.
A generous spray on the arm. Yes, yes, not bad, somehow very fine. Not an oriental as I normally know them. And now the decision of which one it should be, which one gets to accompany me home. After all, I didn’t want to keep my better half waiting until he gets a few more gray hairs.
The young man sniffed at my arm and suddenly rolled his eyes. Man, this one is an absolute dream on you, really very beautiful. Which one was that? Oh wonder, the beetle, the one I didn’t even want to test.
The one that starts with a sweet orange and, after a few seconds, spreads a fine orangey-chocolate scent. Sweet gourmand without being sticky sweet. Then the fragrance transforms and increasingly resembles a sweet pipe tobacco with a slight rum undertone, but one of the finest kind.
When I was still a young woman, I worked as a draftsman in an engineering office after my training. The older engineer who always gave me the plans to draw and explained the project was a pipe smoker. Back then, he could smoke in his office as he pleased. I loved that smell that lingered everywhere in the room, especially in his beard and probably on me. He often looked quite puzzled when I got a little closer than necessary : ). This scent strongly reminds me of his preferred and fine tobacco.
Such a beautiful sweet tobacco scent that then additionally becomes a bit woody and lightly spicy over time. A nice medium sillage, noticeable but not intrusive. A fruity gourmand-oriental, if such a thing even exists.
Floral or oriental, I simply couldn’t decide, and so in the end, both fragrances came home with me. The effort and patience of the young man paid off at least.
Recently, I must have sprayed a bit more of it on, after all, I was at home and couldn’t bother anyone, when my better half came home. Hmmm, what smells so damn good here? Did you buy a new fragrance again?
No, that’s my souvenir from Munich. One of the two you had to wait so long for : ). But the wait was worth it. My husband found it to be one of the most beautiful fragrances I’ve ever had.
And now I see it that way too, and I believe my signature scent has strong competition. And even one without flowers.
But no matter which one will be my first favorite in the future, it stays in the Micallef family.
And the last time I wore it a few days ago, a lady followed me out of the store, it wasn’t just raining from the sky, but also compliments with the obligatory question of what a beautiful fragrance this is. My absolute lucky beetle : ).

I'm adding it to my wishlist right away :)))
Lucky ladybug trophy for you:)))
But you perceive fragrances differently on others than on yourself. Congratulations, of course.
I didn't know that the Brückner fragrances are by Micallef, but the bottle really does remind me of "Ananda"!
I'll leave you a lucky ladybug trophy for the lovely comment :-)))
