Layton - a new chapter

In my younger years, Hugo Boss was my signature and daily fragrance for a long time. Of course, there were a few other scents here and there. But not many - and not often.

I still like it, but I particularly think of the early versions from the 90s. Fruity, spicy, and a bit sweet, yet fresh and light enough not to be annoying. It was perfect for me back then, especially since it wasn't loud or intrusive. And the apple as a central theme.

But how do I come to Layton now? Of course, it doesn't remind me directly of Hugo. I only became aware of it late through the general trend, influencers, and Parfumo. Initially through the well-known dupes. Nevertheless, it wasn't the hype that excited me, but this special DNA. And again, to bring it back a bit - the apple as a relevant component.

No fragrance has captivated me since then. It is the proverbial "king" of my collection, even ahead of Naxos and others. For me, it works similarly to how Hugo did back then: it is distinctive but not intrusive or unpleasant. Sweet, fruity, woody, spicy - suitable for almost all occasions. And still outstanding.

Somehow, it is also mass-appealing, which doesn't bother me. The overall presentation is also not off-putting. A serious flacon in dark blue, with a heavy silver cap. Masculine and not playful, as is often seen these days. Financially, the overall package is just about acceptable for me. But compared to that, Hugo is already more affordable...

Currently, I don't have a signature scent, as I like to switch fragrances often and frequently. But if I had to choose one, it would probably be Layton at the moment (or at least - for purely monetary reasons - this DNA).

Outgrowing one, fond of another. The apple remains, as a connecting element and thus a constant in this journey.
