In October 2019, I was in Berlin for work. Since I had more time in the afternoon than expected, I made a detour to KaDeWe. I had already had 2-3 fragrances in mind that I wanted to test, so I headed straight to the perfume department. I had now arrived at the Parfums de Marly (unfortunately including a sales consultant). As it often goes, I was introduced to almost the entire range. In the end, it became a bit too much for me, and I sprayed the Layton Exclusif on my wrist and went straight back out.
The scent fascinated me from the very beginning. Starting with a fresh but also strong opening, the fragrance gradually became softer and warmer over time. I found myself sniffing my wrist repeatedly until late in the evening. Even the next morning, you could still perceive the Layton on my clothing.
I then spent a few weeks debating whether I should buy this (not exactly inexpensive) perfume and eventually had to seize a good offer. For me, it is not a fragrance for every day, but rather for special occasions.
The "Layton Exclusif" is really good and I like it much better than the regular "Layton," which I find lacking in spice. But you're right that this scent isn't for everyday wear, as it comes on pretty strong with its woody coffee note.
