Very helpful Review
Hey good old friend how are you doing?
I open the bottle, place my finger on the spray head, and press it down in the next moment. Suddenly, my thoughts blur, and I feel warm and light at heart.
"Hello my boy, how are you? How was school?"
Where have I landed? Heavy, wooden furniture adorns the room. The heavy curtains let in only a faint light. The beam of light gets lost in the diffuse fog of the room.
In the next moment, I notice the large, old armchair facing me with its back turned. My uncle is sitting in it. He has noticed that I have entered the room. He takes a puff from his cigar and turns towards me.
Only now do I perceive the room-filling pleasant smell of the cigar. It is the scent of my uncle. It is the scent of a man who is in the midst of life and knows how it goes.
Like a comforting blend of the smell of vanilla cigars that have been enjoyed in a room for decades, which has always served as a library with graceful furniture made of the finest woods.
This is how I recalled my childhood when I first smelled Herod by Parfums de Marly ;)
---
Herod starts with a peppery uppercut. But not one that keeps you down. It is much more a liberation blow for the tobacco that clearly presents the heart of this fragrance. In the base, vanilla clearly joins in, perfectly rounding out the overall picture of Herod. The cedarwood is also slightly noticeable, but it holds back. Musk or patchouli are not perceptible to me, which personally pleases me rather than annoys me.
I would estimate the longevity of Herod at about 6-8 hours. I would rate the sillage an 8.
I really like Herod. I find it suits both cooler and warmer temperatures very well. In my opinion, it is more suitable for men outside of their youth.
