I find iris fragrances particularly wonderful. I’m not sure how such scents suit men, but I think they are great on women, as the powdery scent of iris comes across as beautifully clean and allows a lady to radiate a special beauty in a rather calm manner.
That’s why I enjoy testing iris fragrances, knowing that a dear friend also quite likes powdery scents, and I’m always happy to be able to give her lovely fragrance samples that delight her and bring a smile to her face… uh, to her face :D
The scent:
The fragrance starts off both fresh due to the bergamot, and somehow slightly creamy and powdery, which should be attributed to the iris. I also feel like I’m already slightly perceiving a light fruity note, which is the plum, although it’s not immediately recognizable in the top notes and takes a few (few) minutes to become stronger.
In the heart note, a beautiful and slightly sweet floral note comes in with the rose. The iris becomes a bit more pronounced and smells particularly lovely due to the creamy and fruity notes in the background. The vanilla takes a little while to show up, but when it finally appears in the base, it’s not particularly strong, yet you can still smell its scent well.
Sandalwood forms the base of the entire fragrance, although this woody note is really quite weak and can hardly be perceived. In the base, the wonderful iris continues to dominate, now with a distinctly stronger plum.
Longevity and sillage:
The longevity is somewhat low or average, lasting about four to five hours on the skin depending on the dosage.
Yes, one of the bigger downsides of iris fragrances is their often rather low projection, often despite longer-lasting longevity. Here, you’re lucky that the scent is more than average, comparable to the Prada Infusion fragrances, well, maybe just a tad weaker. Unfortunately, the fragrance doesn’t stay at this level for too long, but it’s still enough to be sniffed out. I would have wished for it to be stronger.
The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular. The sides are nicely shaped, resembling waves or pearls. On the front, there’s a metallic label with the name and brand. The fragrance liquid is slightly yellowish. The cap is transparent and multi-faceted. All in all, it’s quite nicely done.
Perle d’Argent is a pearl among iris fragrances. What? You say that was a silly pun? Well, let’s start over…
As mentioned, this fragrance is a really beautiful iris scent, whose special feature is mainly the light fruity note in the background. This makes the scent not only beautifully powdery but also slightly creamy and really delicious.
The fragrance is somewhat fresh, but it could be worn at any time or season. I definitely recommend giving it a try!
The scent gives a wonderful feeling of well-being, calmness, and thus relaxation. Of course, you can also wear it for going out, as it smells nice, but the projection is somewhat low for that, but oh well. However, this gives you a reason to get close to the lady(ies) :D
... well... if you dare *sigh*
In any case, as I said, it’s a fragrance worth testing.
