The Dark Green Brother of the Grinch!
Thanks to Cristalle, who lent me the perfume. I have never smelled a greener chypre before! Chypre Green is so green and cool that you almost freeze upon application, and eggshells grow back behind your ears that were actually already gone. It's that green!
First, there’s a shower of citrus fruits. This must be a revelation for fans of all things citrus (waving in the direction of TVC).
One might almost think that in the heart note, they only took the herbs from the flowers and not the petals. But a slight floral quality does emerge, yet Chypre Green remains consistently cool and green.
The base is also not cozy; it is as dry as a martini.
Launched as a women's fragrance, any man can wear this scent with a clear conscience. But then the eggshells behind the ears should be gone, because Chypre Green is not a scent for million-dollar wearers ;-). The longevity is surprisingly good for such a cool, dry, and green fragrance. A new companion for my chypre summer of 2012.

It's So Green on the White Spot
Many fragrances from Pecksniff’s are listed on Parfumo, yet not a single one has been commented on, and only one has been rated before I submitted my review for Chypre Green. How can that be? Are they that bad, that unknown, too unoriginal? Or just a white spot on the Parfumo map?

The only Pecksniff’s I know is Chypre Green, and I can't find it to be bad. Upon the first spray, I had a flashback - I suddenly found myself at 10,000 meters above the clouds, taking my first whiff of Ma Griffe (Carven), my very first Eau de Toilette. Although that was ages ago, and I can't really guarantee that the similarity is as great as it seems to me now, I could almost swear to the unmistakable resemblance.

Addendum: Now that I have a mini of Ma Griffe here, I must admit that Ma Griffe does play in a different league - it is indeed much more complex, softer, deeper, and more flattering, but there is still a character similarity.

The fragrance pyramid of Ma Griffe is evidently much more complex, and unfortunately, I can't conduct a comparison test at the moment, so I hope my memory isn't completely misleading me. On Basenotes, the comparison to Eau Sauvage is often made, which I can't judge.

Chypre Green truly lives up to its name - the greenest green and a citrus fruit mix, from which no fruit stands out, storm into my nose, not sour, just herb-fresh and not a bit edible, but also not bitter. Am I perhaps catching a whiff of how galbanum smells? Looking at the floral array of the heart note, I can hardly believe what is supposed to be in there. The flowers have merely floated by this little water, as this Chypre does not take on a floral progression. The herb freshness lingers quite a while and is only slightly restrained by the flowers. The same goes for the musk and sandalwood - there is nothing sweet, no powder, just dryness. Only at the very end does the sandalwood reveal itself to my nose. In my mind's eye, a picture of a lush green meadow at the edge of the forest emerges, with dew drops slowly evaporating in the early morning sun, the sun rays still slanting through the trees - a beautiful summer day begins.

This is a very straightforward scent that changes little on my skin - in the scent progression, it only gradually becomes softer, but never mild. The character remains intact.

As a representative of refreshing scents, it holds up quite well - half-life is about half a day. It is not a room-filler but also not one that hides away. And certainly not one that needs to hide. However, it is completely incomprehensible to me that it is labeled as a women's fragrance, as it seems almost more masculine to me; if anything, it is unisex. And if it comes off too herbaceous for someone, I recommend layering it with Sandalo from Etro. That makes it milder.

On warm days, it is a pick-me-up for me. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued - just like the entire line of the previously available men's and women's fragrances. Instead, two new fragrance lines have been launched. In my opinion, Pecksniff’s deserves a bit more attention. If I understood the information on the Pecksniff’s website correctly, you can even return opened fragrances if you don't like them. So, who will conduct the next test? Best someone who is heading to London soon.

Chypre yes and no: I miss jasmine, moss, and a distinctly bitter bergamot note, but the structure is recognizable: well done anyway.

Surprisingly good! Theme well executed. The aldehydes are missing in the opening and the flowers seem to use more of the leaves. Musk instead ...

Name is omen: Green Chypre, soft citrusy and a bit soapy. No trace of flowers (surprising pyramid!). Chalky musk at the end.

Deep dark green chypre with yellow-citrusy splashes & a hint of musk in the base. Not sharp, but rather a round-harmonious scent.

Very citrusy start, well, with 5 citrus fruits, no wonder, it becomes creamier and ends softly woody. So far the best Pecksniff.
