I don't know why, but some fragrances from Perfumer H immediately make me think of characters from Jane Austen novels. Heliotrope was exactly like that - immediately, an image flashed before my inner eye: Anne Elliot from the Persuasion novel.
Anne is one of three siblings and finds herself in a delicate situation. Her irresponsible and vain father, along with her arrogant and haughty older sister, have squandered the entire fortune, and there is only one way out: to rent out their estate and move to the city as tenants. If it weren't for one small detail: the new tenant is the brother-in-law of her former fianc茅. Once in love, Anne was persuaded by a good friend of her late mother to break off her engagement with the then-impoverished Wentworth.
Now, as an old maid with little to no chance of marriage, Anne has no choice but to resign herself to her fate and avoid Captain Wentworth, who is just as wonderful as he was back then. As a returned captain with acquired wealth, he is looking for a wife in her neighborhood and makes Anne's heart race again...
Persuasion is one of Jane Austen's more mature novels. You can feel the unfulfilled longing and perhaps even a personal wish for a happy ending from the author. It is an absolute favorite novel of mine, and Anne is one of the most delicate, loving beings in the Jane Austen universe. Like "Heliotrope | Perfumer H," Anne is a somewhat reserved person. She is very intelligent, sensible, caring, and has the best manners in her family. Like the fragrance, she seems unassuming at first, but the more you get to know her, the more you see her beauty. Like the most delicate flower, Anne's inner thoughts and character unfold throughout the story, and you can't help but like her more and more. The Heliotrope wonderfully represents her essence. Like a delicate veil, the fragrance envelops you and offers a loving sillage throughout the day, full of romance, tenderness, and elegance. With this scent, I become calmer, more composed, dreamier, and above all, I feel very feminine. At first glance unremarkable, over time, you become one of the most desirable characters for whom you wish the most fervently for a happy ending. Like Anne Elliot, Heliotrope is a fragrance that truly deserves to be loved.
Thank you for your lovely review! "Persuasion" is my absolute favorite novel by Jane Austen 馃グ. I'm just getting to know Heliotrope and can really relate to your parallels.
Haha oh yes, I saw the Netflix version too and I know what you mean xD A WB - honestly, that's a brilliant idea, but we鈥檇 need to do some brainstorming in the community. So far, only 2 fragrances have taken me to Austenland 馃き
Oh how lovely!! I'm happy to see every new "Janeite" here 馃コ. Maybe we should start a chain letter about it馃槈. I also love the 2007 version! The one from 1995 is great too, but I can't stand the Netflix version from 2022...
Oh yes, finally a fan 馃槏馃き I've read it so many times, and I can also recommend the BBC series from 2007; they captured the characters so well. Yes, this scent takes me into that world, thank you for your comment 鉂わ笍 I'm really glad it's not just me who feels this way!
This book wasn't part of my required reading at university, so I'm not familiar with it. The scent is one of my favorites, and I'm actually wearing it today. Yes, it's soft and delicate, yet wonderfully feminine. And despite its sweetness, it's quite subtle. Lyn Harris is British. Maybe she enjoys reading Jane Austen herself?
I鈥檓 curious about that too :) I think even if it鈥檚 not, a certain aesthetic from the books is just part of British culture. That delicate, intricate, and subtle feeling is hard to put into words, but I sense it here as well. I've been wearing it more often lately and I'm looking forward to more discoveries from LH.
