Fruity-Spicy Creation in the Direction of Chanel Egoiste
I tested this Punks in Paradise many years ago and described it via a statement; now, a few years later, a more detailed review follows. Back around the release date in 2018, I only liked this scent semi-well; it wasn't really what I was looking for. This month, I secured a 30ml bottle, which I believe is a good choice. A great fragrance that definitely presents interesting vibes and reminded me a lot of Égoïste Cologne Concentrée back then, and it still does today. However, this Punks in Paradise is significantly fruitier and more contemporary. Not that this Chanel isn't timeless, but here comes a great modern twist into play. Philly & Phill is a German niche brand known primarily for this "molecule scent" "Easy for Ecstasy / Pure | Philly & Phill." The one in question here is a bit less known but can certainly convince. The name likely plays with this rebellious notion, hinting at the hemp note, but it doesn't lean towards weed. The note is quite noticeable, but it tends more towards the green and is not very rebellious. In terms of pricing, this brand has significantly increased in recent years, so I would only buy it with a decent discount. That's how I got my 30ml. This fragrance can be worn in everyday life but also in the evening with its confident DNA. The scent is unisex, but it is much better received among men, as the ownership list shows.
This fragrance is available in 30 and 100ml. It comes in typical niche packaging. Attractive, but nothing special. It has style with this simple label. The sprayer is top-notch. The scent, as mentioned, strongly resembles this classic from Chanel. A wonderful confident spice pushes to the forefront from the very beginning. This nutmeg-hemp combo is accompanied by modern fruits that do not smell too synthetic or sugary. Bergamot and mandarin provide a slight freshness to the spice in the top notes. In hour 2, peach, pear, and plum follow. These notes are not distinctly noticeable on their own, but they contribute to a refreshing combination and give this fragrance a modern and younger twist. A bit of ylang-ylang also comes into play with a slight creaminess, without becoming too floral. Patchouli from the base sets in noticeably earlier and impresses with slightly dark vibes. The woody ambroxan-sandalwood notes are also totally convincing with their wonderful soft nuances. Leather does not come to the forefront but provides a noble background with this slightly leathery base. Amber adds a touch of warmth and rounds off this base beautifully. Overall, it is very harmonious, but never slick, and with this special DNA, it is more noticeable than blending into the crowd. The performance is very successful, and the longevity settles somewhere between 8 and 10 hours. The sillage is very satisfactory and still absolutely suitable for everyday wear.
Overall, this fragrance brings a wonderful DNA. As rebellious as the name suggests, this scent is not, but there is certainly character present. I like it extremely well, and this 30ml will surely bring joy. Already a versatile fragrance, except in great heat.
