Fashion Designer's Master Fragrance, Casual and Leathery.
No, glittering haute couture models don’t really fit here. More like casually elegant (faux) leather clothing and suits. Or pants with flares and a loose blazer. Or... just wear what you like, as long as it’s not glitter or sweatpants & a T-shirt. And the scent suits many occasions.
It has the charm of a wildcat and the spirit of a nimble horse. Also the agility of good circus performers. Both endurance and radiance. And a lot of energy.
It belongs in the realm of herbaceous-animalic chypres with an inky touch, emphasized by the very recognizable birch tar (leather). It is neither too sweet nor too bitter and has a woody-mossy "foundation," which likely also carries some floral notes.
Above all, Tristan is a fragrance that is extraordinary and also very harmoniously balanced. No note screams loudly or takes command.
I don’t understand why production was discontinued, as something like Tristan is very rare. In my opinion, it does not belong to the mainstream but rather to a well-wearable "niche."
I am not familiar with Pierre Cardin's fashion, but I think it is neither "aloof" nor high-society-like. Like the fragrances I know from the fashion designer brand besides Tristan. The latter is a small masterpiece, and it’s a shame it no longer exists.
