Interesting....

Edit: I tried it again in the winter and now the mossy note smells really fresh and interesting! I like it much better this time around but my husband said it smells like a vintage soap. So still not a 10 but better than the "5" I had given it previously.

I wanted to love this one. It comes with so many rave reviews and seems to have a strong cult following. There are things I love about it but, I don't think it justifies the price tag. So here is my honest review:

The GOOD: The opening is very creamy and delicious. The vanilla and almond definitely come through for me. It's sweet, but not cloying by any means. It's feminine but I actually think this is one that a man could wear if he is a fan of gourmands. It is one that most people around you will enjoy, or at least not be offended by. The slight mossiness in the base notes give it a sort of fresh vibe.

The BAD: I think it's the anise that ruins it for me. To me, it comes through as an almost lemony, chemical smell. It is how I imagine a clever poison might smell: sweet with a hint of something toxic. The poisonous note hums in the back of your brain, signaling danger, but you don't realize it's there until it's too late. You've been drawn in by the sweet vanilla cream and almonds. The opening and base notes are fine, but that lemony middle note is a no-fly zone for me.

This is also a rather weak performer. Sillage and longevity are low. Not worth the high cost.
