A Quantum of Comfort, but with a Twist of Lime
Take a seat, Mr. Jeheimrat! Come on in to the cozy parlor! It is such a great and unexpected joy for me to welcome you back to my little salon after such a long time. What can I get for you? As always? A haircut? A shave perhaps? But of course, right away!
Coffee? Sugar? Cream? Coming right up ... Or may I offer Mr. Jeheimrat a small glass of sparkling wine to celebrate this day? But of course, right away ...
A votre santé, as the French say!
Yes, I completely agree with you. This has been a difficult time for all of us, one that just wouldn’t seem to end. An eternity, as you aptly put it; you took the words right out of my mouth.
I always say, eternity lasts the longest. I had already feared that I wouldn’t be able to reopen my little salon. I told myself, Korianke, this is really putting the crown on the barrel! For a few days, it almost made me feel as good as downright grumpy, if you know what I mean. Trudchen had already asked me what was bothering me and whether I wanted to be a grump.
But Mr. Jeheimrat knows me well. No need to worry, that’s the old Korianke’s motto!
All for the dear clientele!
So, now Klärchen is smiling down at us from the clouds again, and here we are, enjoying coffee and Trudchen’s baked goods, while the little birds are chirping like crazy in the trees. Even the linden trees have decided to finally start blooming. Ah yes ... early summer, it truly is the most beautiful time of the year, wouldn’t you agree, Mr. Jeheimrat? It just warms the heart, it makes one feel human again.
So, in this sense, we all have more luck than Ferdinand ...
Now, if you could just ... yes, you know this, everything is familiar to you. I must first wrap this old hairdressing towel around you so nothing spills on that nice shirt of yours. There, we have that sorted ... By the way, looking quite extraordinary today, sir. Compliments! I always admire Mr. Jeheimrat for his worldly composure, strolling around in such a snazzy linen jacket with a matching vest. And again with a Panama hat. I’m impressed!
So, now I just need to ... Should I take a bit more off, or is Mr. Jeheimrat satisfied? But of course, right away ... Where was I?
Ah yes. You see, I call this culture. Or to put it simply - even after these dreary times, one must not let oneself be defeated in appearance. Back to life, if I may say so. And such a distinguished appearance also requires a proper haircut.
A gentleman wouldn’t settle for anything less, especially not after an old Carola or Corinna.
How do you like that?
But precisely, Mr. Jeheimrat. I completely agree with you! One must take life as it comes and not let oneself be driven into a corner. There are always the beautiful sides, one should never forget that! You see, and for this reason, Trudchen has tirelessly baked cakes. Gooseberry and also cheesecake. Trudchen says it keeps body and soul together and is also somewhat of a comfort. And she is right, she is!
Do you agree with me, Mr. Jeheimrat? That makes me happy! May I offer you a piece of Trudchen’s baked goods ...? Coming right up!
So, if you could just turn your noble head to the other side ... then I can get to work here with the scissors ... Where was I?
Ah yes, comfort. A quantum of comfort is something everyone needs, especially after this crazy time. I boldly assert that!
What do you mean ...?
Very true! I can only agree with Mr. Jeheimrat! It is already known from aromatherapy that people respond well to pleasant scents. In this way, one can combine the pleasant with the useful. I always say, Korianke, I tell myself, a good perfume is also a remedy against a gloomy mood. With a nice fragrance, one can, so to speak, fortify oneself against the unpleasantness of the present. Just take all those colognes. They were never meant for people to just smell good! No, they were already used back in the day for disinfection. Combining the useful with the pleasant ...
How do you like that?
But yes, yes, I must give Mr. Jeheimrat his due! Summer and a light, but not too fleeting scent always go together. At least for a gentleman. It’s splendid, and one can use it to rise above the miseries of everyday life.
But yes, yes, it must be fresh. Well, I know Mr. Jeheimrat’s exquisite taste! Best if it’s really green, because that lifts the mood the best, wouldn’t you agree? A bit sour, definitely not sweet - the old Korianke can wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Jeheimrat on that. And it shouldn’t be a scent that everyone else is splashing on themselves either. A little bit of exclusivity is certainly in order, am I right? You see!
Now, one wants to return to simplicity, groundedness, familiarity. Just like Trudchen and I with our little quirks ... so I can assure you, it’s like a fountain of youth. It’s great, keeps us young and fresh, and prevents us from becoming old and wrinkled.
Korianke, I always say to myself, Korianke, in old age, foolishness is of no use either.
What do you mean?
Exactly, Mr. Jeheimrat hit the nail right on the head! The simple, the good, the familiar, which reminds us of better times, that is what comforts us. What lifts us up again. Hope, confidence ... there can never be enough of that.
So from my experience, I can only recommend turning to the so-called citrus scents, as we call them. They are fresh, not too sweet, and allow one to breathe freely. They are best when they don’t have too many ingredients mixed in. It’s not about cobbling together a great work of art, but rather a fragrance that liberates the soul again. So that we can breathe again and feel as good as we did as children.
How do you like that?
But certainly, Mr. Jeheimrat. Would I recommend a scent that I don’t have in stock ...?
I have just the thing. A small, almost inconspicuous scent that has a lot to offer.
“Lemon Scent,” as the French simply call it. Here, take a look, such a modest little bottle ... And this fragrance really doesn’t need to hide its light!
As green as it looks, it is. Simply lemon, but of the finest quality. Although I must note that it is a mixed fragrance. They added some lime to the fine lemon. It gives the whole thing an extraordinarily nice touch! It adds a bit of nobility, finesse.
If Mr. Jeheimrat will allow me the small joke - this fragrance has, so to speak, been limettized.
That’s all there is to it, but I find the mixture very pleasing. Green, a bit sour, very fresh, and lasts quite a while for a citrus fragrance. You get about five hours out of it. And at that little price, you can certainly afford to reapply ...
How do you like that? No, no worries, it’s a subtle scent.
Well? Have I piqued your curiosity?
May I offer you a little spritz on your wrist ...?
I’m glad to hear that you like the scent.
Most heartfelt thanks, Mr. Jeheimrat!
Do honor me with your presence again soon!
And many greetings to the Mrs.!

The Korianke, the Trudchen, and the Jeheimrat!
You’re so unique, please don’t stop, and the whole Parfümo crew is excited for new stories from the Salongk!
And on top of that, you have a unique way of making fragrances sound so appealing.
Wonderful, glorious, refreshing:
Great to have you back!!
A lemon scent that isn’t harsh is always welcome.
Thanks, Korianke!
And see you next time in this chair!
I completely agree with Behmi. Thank you so much!
