The Idea of Leather
This scent will excite rather than please - and that, despite being so delicious & appealing, exactly what is currently in & popular. Why? Because it should have been called Supreme Honey/Tonka, it is a fake-leather, the idea & metaphor of a leatherworker. The positive: for those who can live with it, they get a delicious, very sweet & quite high-quality men's fragrance for Polo, one you want to bite into. Furthermore, it deserves credit for not trying to be a dark leather scent, aside from the name. What you initially sniff and find beautiful does not later change into a "Leather Blend" or "Tuscan Leather." Forget it.
And weren't leather scents always just representations of leather, the associations in the mind of the wearer & their environment? Does a dark brown leather jacket perhaps even bring out the leatherier sides of the scent? In all our heads? Anyway, too much speculation & theories, what matters is in the nose... or something like that.
Why did I even buy the scent, before/for a vacation in the Dominican Republic? Because it smells super delicious & might serve me well in the evenings. In the Arab regions, gentlemen wear the heaviest rose-oud scents, completely overdosed, so it should work just fine in the Caribbean - that was my thinking. In practice, it works too; due to the high humidity, the scent, lightly dosed of course, feels very pleasant in the evenings at 20 degrees, whether at the nightstand buffet or in the disco.
As I said, leather has to be imagined or is fused with Nutella & can be smeared in your hair, uh, on your bread. The scent is more of a creamy tonka-honey fragrance, like one often smells - just rarely so unabashedly. Often something else is tried beforehand, with lavender or bergamot, then it runs out in this way. Supreme Leather is honest from the start, once you get past the name deception: a darker nut nougat cake. Calorie-rich & boldly sweet for men - at least that would have been the case.
Bottle: a brownie - otherwise everything is the same at Polo. My amateurish image is misleading - deep brown & very chic.
Sillage: Honey always stands out, tonka too, saffron as well = already a going-out scent!
Longevity: a strength - 8 hours.
Conclusion: those who liked the Oud Supreme from the house will find joy here - even if that one was a whole lot better & leather here is anything but supreme, rather suboptimal. Still: delicious honey drips!
