Ultra Schmu
Polo never tires of milking its blue bestseller - now "Ultra Blue" is here. But what does the new refresher do differently than its brothers, and does it even bring anything (new) to the table that could justify a purchase?
No, in my opinion, it brings far too little. "Ultra Blue" is a chemically dull, highly pitched citrus showerhead that you feel you've already smelled far too often in recent years. From numerous summer editions to synthetic freshness clubs that seem to be well-received and are gladly worn from the office to the gym. This blue spirit uninspiredly joins the ranks and could do well in the duty-free areas of this world. However, I find it only moderately appealing. At best, it's okay. More likely less. It has a very high voice, feels sunny and summery, almost, as I said, more like a bright flanker than a completely new fragrance. There is no glory or creativity to be found here. I detect a hint of cucumber and salt, but otherwise, it's just lemon from the lab. And that's (for me) clearly too little. There are numerous fresh, summery, clean scent materials that are rarely smelled, from mango to strawberry, from champagne to fig - but here, nothing is dared, nothing is ventured, not a single turn taken that hasn't already been traveled a hundred times by everyone. It's really time, especially in the citrus area, for the mainstream to try out some new facets and experiments. Because this gimmick here is, not just for frequent sniffers like us, now as worn out as your grandfather's underwear. Polo now only says very pretentiously and wannabe-cool Yolo.
Bottle: it's stylish, youthful, and presentable
Sillage: every shower feels more fragrant
Longevity: its artificiality and freshness last about 5 hours on my skin
Conclusion: no real progress over the regular Polo Blue. More of an uninspired regression. Summery, clean, synthetic, shallow. It strongly reminds me of some of the summer variants of "Light Blue PH." Nothing great. But also nothing to tear apart. Just super lame.
