Melancholy to the Power of 10
Revillon R certainly doesn't hold back, but it is a scent that embeds itself in your nose. I was kindly given a leftover bottle by a Parfumo colleague when I purchased another fragrance, and it lasted me a long time since I didn't wear the scent but rather sprayed it on my wrist to indulge in memories. Not the memories of the scent itself, but of the century in which it was created...
It's hard to explain, but even if R had only been released in 2010, it would still transport me back to the 90s.
Many surely know this: fragrances don’t have to be meticulously crafted, and not every note needs to be perfectly aligned with the others; just a certain scent accord can immediately stimulate a few brain cells and transport you to a specific memory. This is exactly the kind of fragrance I seek, and with R de Revillon, I have found one. Thierry Mugler's B men is also a scent that evokes the same emotions in me, although I don’t want to compare the two fragrances.
Okay, I admit, that was all very emotional.
Subjectively, R de Revillon is nothing more than a well-made woody-fresh scent from the 90s with an (for its time) abysmal longevity. More of a skin scent with good sillage in the first hour. However, with this fragrance, I find it difficult to name the individual components, as this scent always invites me to indulge in the past.
I recommend anyone who loves the 90s (like I do) to simply give the fragrance a try.
Edit: Revillon R is a "back when everything was good" scent. When I smell it, I immediately think of beautiful events from my childhood, perhaps explaining this melancholy...

I find the scent to be fresh, aromatic, woody, and pleasant. However, it doesn't evoke any emotions in me. Hardly anyone knows this Revillon.
