We had a lovely time...
For my habit of sleeping in, I surprisingly jumped out of bed quickly today...the alarm clock pulls me out of dreamland: it’s Sunday, July 19, 2020, at 9:30! Right in the middle of the pandemic, which is slowly getting on all our nerves (and in retrospect, had a surreal charm to it).
The morning sun shines through the window of my stuffy attic room in that shared apartment and warmly warms my feet...it was warm in the place anyway during the summer lol. The reason for my "early" awakening was probably the lady I had a date with the previous day...and whom I had only known for a few WhatsApp messages! I didn’t know what to expect....a snappy goat? An arrogant wannabe intellectual? Or even one of those boring people who have nothing to say?! Better safe than sorry, and after I sent back the grill planks from yesterday and got myself into a decent state, I splashed on a few liters of Maharadja d'or to give myself a touch of mystique and adventure! At least in the first 15 minutes after application....the next performance drops were not worth noting after about 1 hour...would the remaining scent be enough for a good first impression on my date?! Who knows?!
However, that remaining scent lingered long enough to irrevocably associate this fragrance with that wonderful day in my little sparrow brain! The blazing sun, the nearly two-hour drive, the first look into the brown doe eyes of my beloved, the great conversations, the visit to the old Roman bath, the view from the castle, and sipping lemonade in the café...! The Maharadja was always subtly present!
The perfume is below average, both in scent and in longevity/sillage, let’s not kid ourselves!
Throughout the summer, I wore it from time to time, but today I would only take it for grocery shopping! Something romantic didn’t develop with the mentioned lady...we were supposed to meet two more times before I hugged her goodbye for the last time in the parking lot at Klamm on September 6...then the contact faded, and a few renewed attempts to reach out in the following months on my part failed...! Since then, the rest of the Maharadja has served as a time capsule to the summer of 2020, when I was last in love. We had a lovely time... :)
