in Trance!
I have "unfortunately" discovered the world of Roja for myself, which is clearly not beneficial for my bank account.
It took a lot of courage to approach it. On one hand out of reverence (even if that sounds banal), on the other hand for reasons of practicality!
With these exorbitant prices, who would willingly throw themselves into misfortune? As they say, what I don't know won't hurt me!
And since I must admit that I am not particularly steadfast when it comes to fragrances, it follows.....
“curiosity killed the cat!“
So let's dive into it!
I saved the Aoud line for last. A completely new world, an indescribable experience!
First up is the Aoud. An Oud scent of outstanding quality, anything but “in your face Oud.” A dream of a thousand and one nights!
Then came the Musk Aoud. Still the excellent oversized Oud quality, a bit softer and more animalistic. The musk in it reminded me a little of the style of “Muscs Koublaï Khän” by Serge Lutens, of course about 38265 classes better and not so “stinky.”
A beautiful scent, but for my taste, it came in last place.
And then.....then came the revelation!
Oh yes, I have arrived! What an otherworldly experience!
I have hardly smelled something so warm, qualitative, calming, and sensual at the same time.
A harmonious symbiosis of amber and oud, as I have rarely experienced!
I know what’s in it, yes, but I simply love it when the ingredients in fragrances are mixed so well that you can't pick them out individually.
The slightly citrusy start is quite gentle. The term citrusy would actually be an insulting reduction for this opening. However, it doesn't last long.
You are soon overwhelmed by the warmth of the scent.
The Amber Aoud doesn't change excessively after a few hours. This warm amber-induced sensuality remains with me even after 8 hours. It should be so, as it is a highly concentrated extrait.
Is it worth the money? A clear Yessss!
The floral notes are limited and add a certain softness to the whole.
It cannot be compared to any amber or oud scent that I know.
It is much more a feeling than a fragrance. I can well imagine that even non-fans of oud would enjoy it.
For me, the absolute king among the Aoud collection from Roja!
