L'oscar Roja Parfums 2018

romantic luxury
I have two "commissioned works" for the house of Roja available as samples and had to decide in advance which comment to favor: will it be "Bergfeld"*) or "L'Oscar"?
(*) sorry, JonasP1 rightly points out an error: the fragrance is of course called "Bergdorf"; here "Schusselchen" was at work again! When you remember something incorrectly ...)
In any case, both fragrances are worth discussing.
A look at the website, which promises that L'Oscar is "one of London's most romantic hotels," immediately makes the decision for me.
After all, I am currently more in the mood for a stay in such a house than for a visit to a shopping temple in Manhattan, no matter how glamorous it may be.
The first spray already transports me to a noble reception area, where the fireworks of aldehydes capture the sparkle of polished floors and skillfully arranged mirrors and lights, while the freshness of bergamot and mandarin suggests airy generosity.
Fine, I like this; I will feel comfortable and linger here!
The now unfolding lush bouquet of early summer flowers also immediately delights me.
Here, a connoisseur of the fragrance world has precisely instructed the gardeners from Grasse on how many of which floral beauties should be tied into this fragrance bouquet and where.
The early summer promise of pink May roses, finely aromatic neroli, delicate orange blossoms, and intensely fragrant violets is wonderfully realized.
Spicy garden carnations meet here with lovingly entwined, strongly scented, and flower-rich jasmine and ylang-ylang vines: a decoration for this bouquet.
A more robust, compact scent note is now brought in by the rose geranium, while dark violet heliotrope skillfully replaces the usual vanilla.
Thus, the transition from the floral-opulent heart of the fragrance, which conveys the illusion of a luxurious romantic boudoir, to the equally impressive base is very well achieved.
For the "vanilla bridge" heliotrope leads directly to the tonka bean, which allies itself with the proud iris: both give this previously so radiant fragrance bouquet a rich, powdery note.
Resin, wood, and spice accents are tastefully distributed, while leather and musk are still undecided about who among them gets to represent the crowning finale of this fragrance creation.
Once again, our little not-so-clean civet takes advantage of this; it leaves its animal charm, and suddenly the two "quarrelsome" ones reaching for the final appearance are in the second row!
And Roja's "L'Oscar" receives a fine animalistic round of applause!
Floral, aromatic, sensual, feminine - all of this is "L'Oscar" in abundance!
Once again, it has been bold rather than subtly done, and once again, every little nuance fits so precisely with the others that nothing less than a luxury fragrance kaleidoscope can emerge from it!
Thus, a prolonged stay amidst this romantically grand fragrance backdrop is offered, which everyone is free to enjoy.
I have this preference for luxury in general, luxury hotels in particular, and therefore I could immediately embrace "L'Oscar" in my heart; I quickly felt at home amidst this pompous fragrance world!
And my fondness for the fragrances of this brand is probably already known.
(Sometimes it just has to be a Ferrari and not the serious Rolls-Royce!)
A little "Pomp and Circumstance" in everyday life certainly doesn't hurt!
(Hm, is a fanfare or just a red carpet missing for the finale?)

I also went for the Oscar, just like back in Rome for the Hassler scent. The Hassler isn't that great either, just very expensive and located at the top of the Spanish Steps. In the end, it's all about personal preference when it comes to fragrance, and I totally fell for the Oscar without even knowing the hotel. But I'll definitely check it out later.
The other Roja is called "Bergdorf," but I think "Bergfeld" sounds even nicer :-)
