Approaching an Old Theme

It won't be easy for me, but I will try to set aside which house Nüwa comes from. I also want to put the cart before the horse and vehemently disagree with the classification of this fragrance as a women's scent. When we see who already has this fragrance in their collection, I am not alone in this view. The sillage is pleasant, the scent makes its presence known but without recklessness, and the longevity is very satisfactory.

Now to the crux of the matter. I have read somewhere that one should not rely on comments from other users when it comes to descriptions. But I have no choice but to align my thoughts with Labormaus, as she is completely right in her review - and that is precisely why I like Nüwa so much.

We can really forget the top notes, and yes, the heart notes also play a subordinate role in this fragrance. If Roja Dove lists these notes, I will take it as a given. I can neither grasp the blackcurrant nor the immortelle. But while I am still pondering this, the fragrance shows where its strength lies, as it is truly the base that has a different function here. It does not serve as background noise, nor as a fixative, and certainly not as a conclusion, but rather as the theme that this bouquet of notes presents, giving the fragrance a dark, quite animalistic fluidity.

It may be speculation, but perhaps Roja Dove has indeed recalled his past at Guerlain with Nüwa, as for me, the perfume is a dark chypre with an exciting, soothing timbre, similar to what I experience with Parure, for example. When I consider the feminine side of the perfume, I want to draw another parallel with music. Here we do not hear radiant sopranos, but rich, minor-sounding alto voices. I really like that.

Neither the Orient nor any trumpets pouring flowers over us were employed here. Even less was there any attempt to please, and therefore I can understand well that Nüwa falls outside the norm for some noses. How wonderful that our world of perfume is so diverse.

Now that I've been able to test both, I would say that Nüwa is the predecessor of Diaghilev. I like both, although Nüwa is even deeper and appeals to me more. Enjoyed reading!

I’m noting that this definitely needs to be tested. But that’s going to be expensive ;-)

Nüwa is a creator goddess in early Chinese mythology, also known as the mistress of darkness. In that sense, your fragrance description fits perfectly for me, even without knowing the scent! Thank you for your great description!

The scent isn't really my thing; I find it just okay, but 1,000 bucks for just okay... N E V E R !!!

Roja is more about show than anything else... Still, nice comment :-D

The price has completely crossed my pain threshold, even though I would probably really like the scent (similar to Parure).

It doesn't get much more exciting and interesting than this unusual scent progression.

I generally find that Rojas have very dominant, dark base notes, which I don't really like. Some are true spice bombs that cling intensely. So far, I haven't found one I like. I can only recommend testing it for a day before buying.
