Hay, Vanilla Smoke, and Moss

In my search for retro scents, I came across Dali pour homme. I also needed a few attempts with this fragrance to better assess/smell it. At first contact, I immediately thought of toilet blocks in a urinal. Presumably, this refers to the strong animalistic assessment of the scent. I still cannot understand why the fragrance is rated as animalistic.

Because the floral note has nothing to do with animality. The opening could therefore have negatively influenced some perfume reviewers in their assessment. In the sweet-floral start, there is also a hint of creamy soap.

After a longer wear, I thought I was smelling blooming grasses or hay. This scent was also significantly more balanced/better on clothing than on my skin. The longer I wore it, the more pleasant I found Dali. Later, it smelled like freshly washed laundry, was less sweet, and had a slightly leathery quality.

In the drydown, it clearly became a "fougere" scent. However, I liked the aromatic green drydown best, with a blend of smoky vanilla and moss.

Addendum December 22: I find the scent best in winter, as the earthy note with the smoky vanilla comes out most clearly.
It can also remind one of a forest-like bath additive.

I also found the opening a bit rough. It reminded me of scents I've smelled in other perfumes before. However, the progression is remarkably beautiful. Although I can't pinpoint exactly what I'm smelling, aside from the chypre and that lovely floral note. The vanilla is more pronounced on the test strip. On my skin, it smells different.
