After reading the ingredients and good reviews about Opoponax, I had high expectations for the fragrance. Since I love Italy, especially Florence, and visited there on a field trip during my studies a few years ago, I had to get a scent from this house. Unfortunately, due to COVID, I can't go there at the moment, so I ordered the fragrance blind. I expected something spicy and woody, but on me, it smells citrusy, fresh, and a bit mossy. So exactly what I actually don't like. The scent lasts maybe 2-3 hours on me, and the sillage is virtually non-existent. I'm also starting to wonder if a wrong fragrance was bottled in the flacon. Nevertheless, I will keep it for the peak summer and test if it performs better then. Still, I am somewhat disappointed now, as the price-performance ratio is very poor. I hope that the house has better fragrances than this one, but hopefully next time I can test it on-site.
I didn't find it particularly citrusy, but there is definitely a certain freshness that makes me think of cedar. It's not super spicy, more balsamic due to the opoponax. The longevity is really not great - that's the biggest downside for me. I do think you got the right scent; everyone perceives things a bit differently...
That's always very frustrating.. When I read the reviews here, it seems the scent doesn't perform well in terms of longevity.. So most people probably find the lasting power weak.. That could be the case. The fragrance pyramid is quite small. I can hardly imagine that these are the only notes.. "Resinous/Woody" definitely means something different than citrusy and fresh.. Did you buy the scent from a reputable retailer? I hope it's not a fake...
