"Vickers Kids"
John Singer Sargents, born as a child of American parents in Florence and living in Paris and London during his youth, also belonged to the artists of Impressionism.
Unfortunately, his dream of becoming a second Thomas Gainsborough does not come true.
He later lived in England in the countryside, and garden scenes are often found among his works.
In 1884 the "Gartenstudie der Vickers-Kinder" (Garden Study of the Vickers Children) was created, which is regarded as a preliminary study for the much more famous painting "Carnation" or also "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose".
I can remember that this very work (Carnation) appeared in a commentary a few years ago; the garden scene by the river with lanterns in the trees and mauve light makes it very suitable as a fragrance companion.
(But I can't find this comment anymore. I almost think he belonged to an L'Artisan perfume.)

"Vickers Children", currently on view at a John Singer Sargents exhibition at the Stockholm National Museum, immediately stands out for its larger-than-life white lilies.
The children's couple, identified as the artist's neighbour's children, stand with their hands entwined in the middle of this "lily forest"!
Children and very large lily in front of a dark green background - the picture doesn't show any more and yet it enchants in a very special way.

White lilies, like many other "white-flowering plants", are quite harmless during the day. Only when darkness falls do they lavishly exude their intoxicating, sometimes even repulsive strong scent.
Schuberth's "Schu" Parfum also features this powerful fragrance.

The opening is pleasantly spicy: Angelica and Artemisia are accompanied here by star anise.
Except this one doesn't have the power to dominate boo. It is here only a pleasantly dosed addition.
The white lilies generously exude their sweet aroma, myrrh and frankincense add their own resinous scents to create an extraordinary blend.
Ylang-Ylang finally makes this fragrant heart shine: fine lights, like little lanterns hanging in the trees, now run through the fragrance composition.
"Schu" was a rather unusual creation for the time of its creation.
One loved heavy Chypres, which should still underline the femininity of the wearer.
But at least the base note corresponds to the ideas of that time: earthy vertiver notes correspond very well balanced with the cedar wood I love so much. A certain animal nuance is intensified by a generous golden amber hug.
Thus this unusual, very feminine fragrance gets its climax: "Schu" flatters immensely!

Silage and shelf life are average. The fragrance develops beautifully and elegantly: from spicy, over flowery - very flowery! to spicy animal, very sensual!
All this is very expressive, perhaps even a little old-fashioned; but it doesn't bother.
Schu" Parfum is one of those fragrances that underlines the presence of the woman who wears it and makes her appear very present later on: this lady is already gone, but everyone in the room remembers her!
What a glamorous compliment that is welcome to every woman!

So Gerdi also sent me "Schu", one of the bottlings that inspire me and underline my preference for the classic - even in the fragrance! Therefore I would like to thank her very much!
