Women Have Every Business in the World Smelling Like Flowers
Septimanie Perfumes Pavillon des Fleurs was recommended to me by someone at Colonial Drug on Brattle Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where I had gone to redeem a gift certificate which I had received for Christmas a few years ago. The problem was that they were out of my first choice, Robert Piguet Fracas. They were also out of my second choice, Guerlain Mitsouko. As I continued to inquire about what might possibly be in stock, the person at the counter pulled down this box, judging that I was obviously sophisticated enough to be able to appreciate what's inside.
And I do! Billowy white flowers, with a huge emphasis on jasmine. This is a VERY feminine and floral perfume with high volume sillage and a decent dose of indoles. At eau de parfum concentration, the longevity is excellent. I find generally that big white flower perfumes have exceptionally good longevity, so that's not what sets Pavillon apart from the crowd.
No, it's the joyful beauty and natural simplicity of the flowers themselves. As leather is listed among the notes, it may be contributing to what I interpet to be the indolic quality of the jasmine. Whatever the case may be, the final product is a bountiful bouquet. There is no tuberose here, so this certainly could never substitute for Fracas, but it's an appealing floral composition all the same. This may be my favorite jasmine perfume to date.
For white flower lovers only!
