Kretek with Orange Peel
Many Lutens fragrances from the COLLECTION NOIRE are too much for me. I recognize the quality, but I don't like to smell them on myself, as they often feel too loud and overwhelming.
So far, I haven't found anything in the lighter scents from the LES EAUX DE POLITESSE line either. The new one didn't appeal to me during the first test. The clove was too annoying. My first association: It smells like a Kretek cigarette.
Attracted by the unusual emerald green color of the perfume, I took another sniff last weekend and was surprised. Now the citrusy orange came through nicely and blended with the pleasantly spicy clove into a wonderful, warm, strangely patchouli-like scent.
Lutens describes Des clous pour une pelure as a refreshing and cleansing fragrance.
I agree. And it looks quite nice next to my Pink After Shave in the bathroom.
