Not Just By Night

The scent is rather heavier, woody but by no means overly intrusive. By Night fits quite well, in my opinion, but it can also be worn during the day.
I certainly do not regret the purchase.
Especially now in the cooler season, the fragrance envelops me in a warm, spicy, woody veil. Now in autumn and winter, I wear it constantly.
It is a stylish fragrance and not necessarily what one would expect from a scent with the name 'Sex and the City.'

The Miracle Water

Not too long ago, a sentimental perfume enthusiast decided to acquire the fragrance "Sex and the City By Night" purely for nostalgic reasons. It had been what felt like a lifetime since she had eagerly followed the escapades of Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha, and normally she would never have bought a perfume with such a terrible name, but the good reviews piqued her curiosity enough to cast all her doubts aside.

She actually liked the scent quite a bit. The herbaceous-sour top note was noted very positively, which becomes increasingly floral in the heart, yet never drifts into a floral sweetness. It was almost as if a gray veil had been cast over the enchanting scents of jasmine and orchid, an impression that finds its perfect counterpart in the smoky-toned bottle. The cap, faceted like a crystal with its light refractions and reflections, completes the illusion of a glamorous start to evening outings. Longevity and sillage are absolutely fine, and the velvety soft base rounds off the fragrance harmoniously. Overall, it's a positive scent experience, albeit rather unspectacular.

The scent progression could also be described with an episode from SATC: The four friends meet, of course perfectly made up, to kick off the evening at a cocktail bar and treat themselves to a sour. After they have rushed through their problems with men, they accompany Charlotte to an art opening. The gallery is decorated with floral arrangements of jasmine and orchid, whose scents mingle with the wafts of the smoking crowd. As the hour grows late, they move on to a chic bar with fine wood paneling, where in the dim light, the four enjoy a nightcap to the melancholic sounds of a saxophone. Afterwards, they silently share a taxi, snuggled together, which takes them home one by one.

The perfume enthusiast decided that 100 ml was a bit too much for her needs, filled 30 ml into a smaller bottle, and passed the bottle with the remaining 70 ml on to another fragrance lover in a swap. She was very surprised to find out that it apparently is a true miracle water, where the contents, much like the feeding of the 5000, do not decrease but even increase, as the bottle was offered for swap shortly thereafter with an 80 ml fill. She still hopes that this will also apply to her portion…

For me, Sex and the City by night smells exactly like that. Anyone expecting something kitschy or playful here is mistaken! The scent is quite bitter and almost masculine at the start; when I first sprayed it, I even detected a very penetrating salad dressing note in my nose. This has happened to me with various fragrances before; it takes about 10 minutes for it to dissipate and for the true scent to unfold. So, I am used to this and was not put off by it. Maybe it comes from the musk. Sex and the City by night is indeed quite musky, which is why I would immediately associate it with Samantha if I had to ;-) In the heart, it becomes surprisingly very floral and feminine on my skin, before arriving at its powdery, soapy base, which, to my delight, is dominated more by patchouli than by amber and tonka. The perfume has a certain cosmopolitan quality with a nostalgic 80s touch, probably triggered by a slight hairspray note that constantly lingers in the background. However, this doesn't bother me at all. It gives me a feeling of elegance and well-groomedness without appearing boring. Surprisingly good.

Not Bad at All

Many know them, the 4 friends from Sex and the City.
They could hardly be more different in their characters, and yet they are inseparable and share many adventures of life together.

But I don't want to review the well-known friends here, but rather one of the 4 released fragrances, Sex and the City at Night.

The scent starts off quite sharp, fresh, and almost herbal. After a while, it becomes a bit softer and powdery, while the freshness does not fade. It doesn't quite fit my usual preferences, yet I like it very much in this way, as I wanted a bit of variety. I can imagine the scent very well for going out in the evening, and more so in autumn/winter.

The longevity is very good, and the sillage is quite decent. For the price, there really isn't anything to complain about.

To return to the friends mentioned above - if I had to assign the scent to one of the 4 women, it would fit Samantha for me.
