Sugar Shock at the Start
I admit, I like sweet fragrances. But only when it’s not too extreme. Also, I approach most celebrity scents quite painlessly. I actually like the fragrances from Christina and Beyonce quite a bit. So it was only natural to give Shakira a try as well. Especially since you wouldn’t exactly expect a little girl’s scent from her.
But one can be mistaken. Right after spraying, a sugary sweet cloud hit me. Orange blossoms? Apricots? None of that was noticeable. Just sweet. One or two brief bitter flashes could be smelled; that must have been the pepper. After about an hour, the sweetness shifted from fruity to somewhat floral. But it was impossible to guess which flowers they were supposed to be. After two hours, it became a bit more bearable, and then amber/musk probably came through.
Overall, it was just a sweet mishmash, with no note clearly recognizable. The latter wouldn’t be a problem if it were a harmonious overall composition, but unfortunately, that is not the case here.
The sillage is not too strong, noticeable at about 50 cm for the first half hour, then quickly becoming close to the skin.
Longevity is not too bad at around 4 hours, but who wants to have that sugary stuff on their skin for so long?
I’m going to wash this off now and enjoy a nice Guerlain.

I also think that Shakira produces the worst celebrity fragrances ever.
