Build Your Paradise, Just Without My Stones!

Shirin David: “I build my paradise without your stones.”
Me: “Yes, please, because it’s not worth it for me to throw them after you.”

The scent: “You never taught me to fly, yet I glide! [...] Are you flying with me?”
Me: “No, thanks.”

Die-hard fans have of course immediately uncovered the hint, which is more of a “hit someone with a fence post” than a subtle nudge, in “Are you flying with me?” and to everyone else, I’d like to share that I appreciate the song and didn’t even know Shirin David beforehand. Thus, I have a completely different image of her than those who have followed her career closely.
The nicely styled bottle piques my curiosity; black and gold have rarely let me down when selecting wines (Primitivo, ah).
Just slapping her own name on it seems a bit too clumsy, almost lame, for a Shirin David who masters several instruments and has a professional singing education.
So what will it smell like? Bossbarbie-Shirin or will it evoke associations with her emotional, vulnerable side?
Since there’s no knowledge without curiosity, I spray it on after reading the notes of this composition online.
Lychee, how great! Maybe it contains the cheeky-summery attitude of Gucci’s Rush, since Shirin also likes Gucci? The rest sounds solid to me, nothing outstanding, but it seems like you can’t go wrong with it.
Pft. Oops. That was just one, right?
It prickles in my nose, so I pinch it shut like with the LaRives and then perceive lychee, very fruity, fresh, not those sweet canned ones (which I also like), accompanied by tea. Maybe the opening was the bite into the poisoned apple?
After the tea seems to have been drunk up, the lychee lingers and more and more floral notes join in.
Ah, nice... IT COULD HAVE BEEN!
I love orange blossom, I love peonies, but this... is flower pudding in the intense version flavored with intense flower pudding.
It doesn’t smell particularly harmonious and is “too much,” although you have to get quite close to get that impression.
The scent: “Give it to him”?
Me: “Yes, give it to him, I DON’T need it. It won’t get better with you over time.”

That Shirin David sought out one of the noses of all noses for her creation doesn’t surprise me, after I found this out on Parfumo. Bossbarbie indeed. The list of his successes from Dior to Yves Saint Laurent to Guerlain is long and impressive.
But... as much as Shirin can do: she cannot do perfume.
For everything else, I take my hat off to her, because you can think what you want of her and her appearance: she has established herself as a brand and knows how to sell herself.
The success, also a Bambi for such achievements, proves her right. Her current single, released in mid-May as a cut from some album that has recently come out or will be released soon, has landed at number 1 on the German singles charts.
So why not expand the empire or at least try? She was not the first or the only one and won’t remain so either.
For me, I can only hope that her next attempt will be better or that she will orient herself in a different direction.

Well written, thank you. You expect a lot more from the perfumer. What a pity.

A truly dreadful concoction. I won't listen to the singing, I admit I'm biased. I'm more into Shalyapin and the like.

I don't know the lady either, but I definitely feel warned about this scent. My highlight from this review was the phrase "Without curiosity, no knowledge" - that's so true, I'll remember that!

Her first scent was a teenage favorite and not as bad as we all thought.
This time she's trying it "without the community" - can we blame her?

I have no clue who Shirin (who names their newborn that?!) David is and I’m not really interested in finding out - but I’m pretty sure that lady can’t just whip up such beautiful critiques out of nowhere.
