Wellness Journey on Detours
Ah yes, the Sothys has cost me some nerves but from the very beginning
I spent a wonderful wellness weekend in the Saxon Switzerland with my husband. There in the spa area, there were two closed jars, inside were perfumed cotton balls. I didn't like one at all, but I liked the other one much more. I immediately had a warm, embracing scent in my nose that my mind instantly associated with the spa (makes sense, since I was standing in one)
I asked the nice staff which fragrance it was, and they told me it was Sothys for men.
Phew, for men… that ended the fragrance for me. I was still too stuck in the usual scent categories.
Back home, the scent lingered in my mind for a long time. And I kept asking myself, "Why is it supposed to be only for men?" So I searched the internet and found... nothing. Unfortunately, I didn't know if it was the Intense or the regular version. It seemed impossible to order it anywhere.
So I gathered my courage and wrote to the wellness area of the hotel. They revealed to me that it was the Intense version. And then they said the magical trigger words, "The scent is discontinued, but we still have exactly one bottle left."
A wink of fate. Thanks to the wonderful staff member who sent me the fragrance.
Enough about the story, now to the scent. The Sothys starts with sharp lavender, which makes it feel very masculine to me at first. But then the lavender takes a back seat, and what remains is a creamy, warm, slightly sweet cloud that surrounds you. From here on, it feels completely unisex to me. This is a real cuddle, feel-good wellness scent, and I am very glad that I no longer let labels like "Homme" influence me.
It lasts quite decently, and the sillage is also okay.
The bottle is creepy, not really ugly, but it could have been designed a bit more elegantly. However, the sprayer and cap are unattractive plastic, and the sprayer works more poorly than well.
I can overlook that because the bottle otherwise has a simple and classic appeal.
Despite everything, I am glad to have this fragrance in my collection after this odyssey.
