Siesta on the Prime Meridian
Souleiado is actually a company for interior decoration, and of a very special kind. Very natural colors, natural fabrics, and wonderful patterns convey a Mediterranean, southern French feeling.
In 1996, CCB (Le Club des Createurs de Beauté), a cosmetics mail-order company from France, offered the first Souleiado fragrance "Méridienne." Later, "luna," "Waaah!!!," and "Schuuut..." would follow, but after 2000, I no longer saw the fragrances at CCB.
The Souleiado sun and the warm colors of the advertising appealed to me greatly back then, and since I was a customer of CCB, I bought Méridienne. How many bottles I have emptied since then, I no longer know, but I really liked this fragrance and still do.
When I compare it today - after an original bottle has returned to me - it strongly reminds me of Micallef's "Sous le Figuier." Both are a very special kind of fig fragrances. They are less woody, but fruitier, creamier, and hardly sweet. Pleasantly wearable at any time and with about 8 hours of good longevity.
Méridienne not only means longitude but also nap, or siesta. The latter fits Méridienne very well, with its calm, fine, and subtle scent, only slightly sweet and just as little woody. I would almost classify it as a gourmand, and it is very unfortunate that it is no longer produced.
