Between Volcanic Rock, Tropical Botany & South Sea Paradise
First of all: This review is emotionally connected. I associate the scent with Big Island, Hawaii. Your imagination or perhaps memory is called for while reading;-)
This fragrance was one of the scents that accompanied me as a sample on our Hawaii vacation, to be more specific, during our first week on Big Island!
And it just fit perfectly there. As "obvious" as the fragrance notes seemed and as much as I thought I "knew what to expect," the scent captivated me: While we drove through volcanic landscapes, saw fantastic botany and black beaches!
In the mornings, it was my first choice when I got ready for the day, the sound of the waves in my ears.
For me, the scent IS Big Island.
Tropical and green. Botany on a volcanic island.
It doesn't have the rough edges like the volcanic craters, but it has a beautiful progression.
At first sweet: coconut, sunscreen, body lotion.
The sweetness soon fades, the scent becomes softer, finer, more complex.
I couldn't name or confirm the components in the fragrance. However, it seems to fit since the scent conquered me on Big Island. The heart and base notes seem understandable; in the top note, at least I don't smell any forest berries or orange. But of course, coconut!
This scent is so much more than frangipani and coconut - even if that "more" is not clearly definable!
But Hawaii is also so much more than beaches and coconut palms.
I would have loved to wear the scent throughout the entire Hawaii vacation and not just for a week; it would have fit perfectly on all 4 islands.... back home, of course, the bottle + a small bottle of extrait should move in right away.
