A Chemically Stuffy Summer

Hello everyone here :)
Today I'm coming to a fragrance that you might be wondering why I'm describing it right now, given that the weather has clearly gotten colder, as we are in autumn and winter is just around the corner!

Because today I'm talking about Limone di Sicilia by I Profumi di Firenze, a fragrance that, from its name alone, suggests it could be a fresh summer scent and therefore seems somewhat out of place now, especially on the cooler days.

Well, here's the thing: I received this fragrance as a sample (thank you very much!). And there's only a little left. By next summer, the scent could have evaporated or gone bad, and you eternal sniffing freaks would immediately cry if something like that happened to a fragrance, right? So I'm sure you agree with me that I tested the fragrance just to be safe and not let it go to waste… and of course to share my thoughts here on Parfumo. Besides, you can add the fragrance to your wishlist if you like it, because as the cliché goes: The next summer will surely come… which I already don't like thinking about when I consider exhausting heat waves *sigh* …

Alright, let me get to the scent before I complain more about summer and extensively describe how great winter is :D

**The Scent:**
So… baaah… the scent starts with a rather harsh, chemical note that initially reminds me a lot of cleaning products. I initially thought that the fragrance had already gone bad, but it seems to be how it is, because if I remember correctly, some fresh scents from this brand also start off a bit intense.
In any case, the lemon slowly crystallizes out of the chemical scent cloud, along with quite a few herbaceous or kitchen herb-like scents. Verbena gradually joins in, but somehow doesn't immediately give off that familiar lemon balm scent (although I've read that lemon balm or verbena is the actual term and verbena is just a scentless, medicinal herb… hmm… I'll use these terms synonymously for now. If that's wrong, you can correct me in the comments :D).
But moving on: After a while, I can smell the verbena better, although the lemons remain quite intense.
In the base, the scent remains somewhat fresh due to the verbena and lemons. I still perceive the herbaceous notes, which occasionally appear slightly biting. Unfortunately, this biting, dry feeling intensifies later on, which I really don't like, and for me personally, the scent loses a lot of its quality or smell because it comes across as very oppressive. Oh, and I couldn't smell any orange blossoms.

**The Sillage and Longevity:**
The sillage is moderate to weak, as is often the case with fresh and citrus scents. Sure, the chemical-like note at the beginning is more intensely noticeable, but that fades away gradually. The longevity is six or seven hours, which is good for a summer scent, but unfortunately, for more than half of that time, you only smell this described, stuffy herb scent.

**The Bottle:**
The bottle has an oval shape, and you can see a nice, shield-like label on the front. The neck is also an oval disc, and on top sits the transparent, trapezoidal cap. All in all, maybe not particularly spectacular, but still quite nice.

Okay, so aside from the beginning, which felt like a strong cleaning product, the scent unfolded without further chemistry. It is a citrus scent and thus smells of lemons and verbena, less of neroli. It doesn't offer much, but could have been refreshing on hot days if it weren't for the somewhat biting herb scent that appears towards the end. This really ruins the scent for me because it makes it dry and stuffy, so I wouldn't want to wear it on very hot days, even though technically it should be a summer scent…

Anyone who likes lemon balm should try Ninfeo Mio by Annick Goutal, which is an excellent scent for summer. Otherwise, I can't think of any other fragrances right now… I know… I've tested and described so many scents here and should be able to name much better examples, but somehow my mind is so blank right now… or filled with other things… like Halloween, Christmas (yes, I have to think about where the Christmas tree will go later he he)… etc. etc… :D

Well, as I said, the scent doesn't quite hit the mark for me. You can test it, or not, that's up to you! But maybe you'll like it better!

That's it for today, folks :))
I wish you all a nice evening, until next time :)
