The Powder Cloak is the garment that is protectively draped over the costume before a final touch with a tassel or brush ensures that the artist's face does not shine, allowing them to shine successfully on stage or in front of the camera later.
(Sorry, but I couldn't help it!)
Its counterpart is the Makeup Cloak.
It is worn before the costuming, while pastes and pencils are used to create "the face of another person."
These makeup cloaks are usually very "well-loved," shabby, and not very clean: after all, they carry - according to an old artist superstition - the remnants of past successes.
So keep your hands off water and soap: the thing stays as it is!
Who knows what good it might do!
"Mirra Elemi," an Eau de Parfum from Gelis' latest package, which also includes an exceedingly fine collection of fragrances from "Spezerie Palazzo Vecchio/I Profumo di Firenze," is for me such a "Powder Cloak."
I must say that I am actually - yes, that little word "actually"! - not a big fan of powdery scents; they often overwhelm me.
In contrast, this one lays transparently and lightly with a hint of white musk and the most beautiful full-bodied vanilla over the shoulders of the wearer; cuddly, loving, and simultaneously protective.
Soaked in the sweet yet aromatic juices of sensually ripe yellow peaches with delicate velvety skin and dark Damask plums.
Here, a comparison can be made with a beloved and frequently worn makeup cloak that carries many (certainly not always pleasant) scents within it.
Jasmine and rose exude their sun-kissed intensely fragrant floral beauty. They do not hold back; knowing that they must soon compete with wood and resin.
An exquisite selection has been made from this: silvery silky cedar and noble, almost black ebony form an expressive base that fits well with the fruity-floral scent progression.
A bit of stability is needed so that this hint of fragrance does not immediately dissipate!
Just as carefully, the smoky precious resins have been added: myrrh and golden amber accents settle like a fine net over this scent fabric.
However, this does not prevent sensually earthy patchouli-golden brown from weaving its scent ribbons and thus crowning a magical powder fragrance.
With "Mirra Elemi," despite all the powderiness, nothing is dusty!
Rather, a soft and delicate, yet sensually soft and feminine scent wafts through every room that its wearer lightly enters.
This woman is charmingly present!
With skillfully composed sillage and long-lasting wear, "Mirra Elemi" is a guarantee for a successful appearance.
Here it becomes clear that not only iris needs to be powdery; there are much more enchanting possibilities.
One just has to know how to find them.
"Spezerie Palazzo Vecchio/I Profumi di Firenze" does this in the well-known and elegant Italian way.
And "Art" here truly stands for "Art" - for the finest art of fragrance!
I should take care of that right away.
