Top Review 10

For Patchouli Fans only!

This patchouli scent is not exactly a hit among perfumes, only four people own this fragrance... oh, I just noticed that I am the only male representative, which surprises me with this perfume...
Patchouli Rosso is a truly beautiful patchouli scent and unjustly a hidden gem, offering a quality alternative to the higher-priced patchouli perfumes and is also very affordable; the 50ml bottle, which is quite simple yet comes in a nice milky glass and fits well in the hand, is available for a mere 30 euros... The spray head seems quite sturdy and allows for good dosing.
Patchouli Rosso is really only for us patchouli freaks; even the top note is a nightmare for patchouli haters, you get the full blast of patchouli, I can't smell anything else at first, the top note also has something harsh and almost scratchy, but that quickly settles down. Very intense, for sure!!!
Once the cloud settles and the patch becomes softer and warmer, as is typical for this fragrance material, the woods then emerge, first shyly, then more boldly, while the patchouli never relinquishes its hold.
Thus, this fragrance has a very linear and simple scent progression; it is a woody patchouli scent that comes across as quite masculine to my nose, this patch is not sweet and lovely, but rather dry and woody, though after a while it also becomes warm and sensual. No trace of sweetness... therefore, the gender distribution on the right side surprises me!
I am not a good scent analyst and primarily perceive the overall scent; I cannot specify the woods further, sandalwood will be present, vetiver probably not, likely a bit of cedar.
Sillage and longevity are in the upper middle range; apart from the top note, it is not overwhelming and thus wearable.
It is not my favorite patchouli, as it is not refined enough for that, but it ranks high on my personal patchouli list. Simple and good:-)
I Profumi di Firenze allegedly uses traditional perfume recipes from Caterina dé Medici; whether this is true or not, and whether one wants to smell like in the Middle Ages, is left to everyone's own discretion. I can certainly recommend Patchouli Rosso to any patchouli fan, if one can do without sweetness. Probably also interesting for layering enthusiasts...

Now I'm wondering if you have a sample of it for me, since I haven't reviewed the scent and I'm sure I would like it... *hildesheimerhab*

Sounds good, I don't like sweet either.

I saw it at Different Scent at least last year. Pure patch, I like that. Thanks for the comment, and I would never layer a nice, patch-dominant fragrance. But I guess you wouldn't either.

That might appeal to me. Where can I buy it?
