Summer rain in the orchard

A hot summer day...it's time, the currants are ripe! The red and black ones, right next to the gooseberries and the rhubarb. It's especially hot today. The sun is beating down as I begin to pluck the berries from the bush. First the red ones! Juicy, sweet and tart. Then the black ones, tart and dark, my fingers discolouring. I rub the warm leaves and sniff....an ethereal dark green rises to my nose, tart and somehow spicy. What a glorious cloud!!!
Satisfied and exhausted, I lie down on the grass and squint into the sun. It has become humid. Thick clouds are brewing. It thunders violently. I quickly take refuge under the parasol. And there the rain bursts down from the clouds onto the warm wood of the fruit trees and bushes. The leaves dance. I close my eyes and enjoy the mood...it envelops me...the tart fruit on my lap surrounded by spicy greenery and wet, still warm fruit woods....
