Powdery Flowers with Almond Scent

Oooh, a fragrance called Florentina sounds to me either like an Italian city or like a scent that is very much dominated by floral notes. However, to be honest, this always makes me a little anxious, as I fear that the fragrance could either be stuffy-heavy or stuffy-dry (or both).

Some perfumers sometimes laugh when I talk about floral fragrances with them, as they immediately say, “You would say it’s stuffy”... some really know me well here... do I really say that so often? :D
But it is simply the case that I perceive most floral fragrances as very dry and, well... suffocating... anyway...

Be that as it may, after Dovana, Florentina is my second Sylvaine Delacourte fragrance. I already found the first one really good, let's see how this one is...

**The Fragrance:**
Hmm, the fragrance starts off both sweet-almondy and powdery, and even a little green. I think the powdery aspect clearly comes from the iris, the almondy-sweetness from, who would have thought, the bitter almonds, but also from the heliotrope (which also has a slightly vanillic effect). The violets add a bit more sweetness to the fragrance.
In the background, I smell (I believe) very faint orange blossoms and cloves.
Over time, the fragrance notes blend so much that it actually only smells almondy, sweet, and floral, where it’s hard to say which note is the stronger one.
What I couldn’t pick out were vetiver and bergamot (although the bergamot probably only smells briefly upon spraying). I could only recognize the lavender by the fact that it radiates a bitter note and is listed among the fragrance notes here.
Over time, the fragrance remains as mentioned, the sweet notes become a bit more vanillic, the almonds stay, and the fragrance generally smells very nice.

**The Sillage and Longevity:**
The sillage is above average, so it will still be well perceived by someone not standing too far away.
The longevity was quite good, on me the fragrance lasted about eight or nine hours.

**The Bottle:**
The bottle is rounded and filled with a whitish-yellow fragrance liquid. The cap is cylindrical and golden/bronzish. On the front, there is a label where, alongside the name and brand, you can also see a black-and-white drawing of a flower (can anyone tell me what flower that is? :D).
All in all, a nice but also somewhat simple bottle.

So, I also really like Florentina. I expected a stuffy fragrance, at least just from the name (as it somehow sounds a bit like Flora) and was surprised by a beautifully scented, powdery fragrance. It does feel a little heavy, so I think the fragrance would be best used in spring and autumn. Actually, it’s almost an all-rounder, just maybe a bit too light for winter and a bit too heavy for summer. Oh, just try it out for yourselves.

In my opinion, it’s great for going out, as the sillage is sufficient and, as mentioned, the fragrance simply smells wonderful. I can certainly imagine that the fragrance must work wonderfully for you ladies… but of course, due to its softness, it also fits well for relaxing or cuddling… I think if I write that the fragrance feels soft like a cat’s fur, you all want to try it immediately :DD

… so I think that anyone who enjoys powdery soft fragrances should definitely give this scent a try.

Oh, now I'm worried about the sillage. I went to the office this morning with at least 7-8 sprays of Florentina!!!! I can hardly smell it on myself, which is why I sprayed so much, which is totally not like me!!

Thanks for the reminder about the SD fragrances. I only tried this one once and quickly dismissed it as "not for me - way too sweet." Now, thanks to your comment, I'm giving it another go and starting to find it really lovely. Whether it will become a scent for me remains uncertain, but its powdery, sweet elegance is undeniable.
