The Orange Blossom Gets a Violet Twist
I find the idea of dedicating a group of fragrances to a specific theme very nice.
Inspired by Kovex's fabulous comment on Oranzo and since I really like orange blossom anyway, I checked out Mrs. Delacourte's website and ordered the five-piece sample set themed around orange blossom.
In my opinion, the website is very friendly and appealingly designed, and the sample set is also very affordable. So I didn't hesitate for long.
Although it was initially said that delivery would take about 2 weeks, the set arrived at my place within a week. Very attractively packaged and accompanied by a nice little booklet about the themed fragrances from the house.
Kovex has already provided very valuable information about Mrs. Delacourte, so I have nothing more to add.
Now I tested the 5 orange blossom fragrances and found that they are all designed quite differently. And I like all 5, although some more than others.
The orange blossom appears in all fragrances, more or less distinctly.
I really like Oscarine, as the scent has been expanded with another floral facet.
But first, I perceive a combination of fresh citrus fruits; I can't distinguish them individually, but they come across as very natural and authentic. Nothing is sharp or harsh, nor does it feel artificial.
The orange blossom plays along right away, but it is not the dominant note here. Sometimes, orange blossom is criticized for being a bit stuffy, too cloying, and too waxy. And the sweetness can sometimes become overwhelming.
That is not the case here; in Oscarine, the orange blossom is restrained and harmonizes very well with all the other notes.
Very quickly, a very nice and fresh violet note joins in, which quickly takes center stage and remains present throughout the entire scent journey.
The violet is accompanied by gentle green aspects, which also do not dominate.
Oscarine surprises me with a very pleasant and unobtrusive presence. The scent is not loud and strong, but surrounds me with its fine and beautiful aura. Overall, the fragrance feels rather cool to me.
There is also no significant change, which does not bother me at all. The heart and base notes blend softly together.
The longevity is quite good for a light and fresh fragrance, lasting about 7 hours, and it does not create a large scent cloud. Even one or two extra sprays would not be a drama.
Due to its freshness and rather quiet nature, I see Oscarine more suited for the warmer seasons than now in autumn or winter. On cold days, the scent might get a bit lost.
The fragrance is labeled as unisex, but I think women might be more drawn to this scent, as it is overall very floral and lacks distinct edges.
I personally care little about categorization and do not shy away from the women's section anyway.
And I have always had a heart for flowers :-)
Overall, this fragrance line certainly does not reinvent the wheel, but it presents us with beautifully crafted scents that are definitely worth a sniff or two. And certainly worth grabbing.
Anyone who enjoys calm, floral-fresh fragrances can purchase this without worry. I can also well imagine that a fragrance from this series could find a place in my collection.
I like Oscarine best from the line, along with Oranzo and Osiris.
I thank Kovex for the unintentional but successful inspiration ;-)
