A dignified scent for gentlemen of a certain age - and beyond. Younger generations might be rather put off by this concept. Calming Lavender does have a slightly antiquated feel to it - in the best sense, of course.
The result is simple yet refined. A warm, minimalist lavender scent. No citrus elements disturb the charmingly dusty base note; at most, a gentle, very natural bitterness makes itself known. I would guess chamomile. Otherwise, the woods and spices mentioned in the fragrance pyramid are very subtly balanced and gently carry the scent throughout the day.
Overall, very British. Classic, understated, and - if I may use a somewhat overused image - perfectly suited for afternoon activities in wood-paneled rooms. Gallant conversation, a cup of tea, the jacket in earthy tones or olive green.
After indulging in scones and/or shortbread, it becomes increasingly difficult to resist the temptations of the armchair. At first, one follows the conversations with polite attention. But soon, the background noise fades, and Calming Lavender - now pleasantly softened in intensity - gently signals the start of a diffuse and well-deserved afternoon nap.
Exactly the right scent, apparently, to find calm amidst the day's hustle and bustle, to maintain tranquility - as a gentleman, but surely also as a gentlewoman. :-).
