Sandalwood Taylor of Old Bond Street Cologne

Kaliatur
Sandalwood has a distinctive, equally velvety scent.
Sweet yet not sweet, warm and cool at the same time, the fragrance shifts between reddish and yellowish hues.
The red wood of the sandalwood tree, traded in thick blocks weighing up to 50kg, is also known as Kaliatur wood.
And just like these blocks, monolithic and heavy, Sandalwood Cologne presents itself.
However, the weight does not feel oppressive, but rather substantial, dignified, noble.
Sandalwood Cologne is not an ordinary fragrance.
It imprints itself, is unmistakable.
It takes us on a journey to Ceylon and the mountains of East India, to Timor, to the Lesser Sunda Islands, and even further to Pitcairn.
Sandalwood Cologne is heavy, almost massive - and yet it possesses a surprising, bright lightness that feels pleasant and refreshing.
A gentle dryness is softened by a cool lavender note that glows green and clear in the background.
A shy late rose blooms, seemingly having withstood the first frosts, making the fragrance appear softer.
A hint of expensive leather can be sensed, giving the fragrance an almost tangible texture and highlighting it as very masculine and traditional amidst the monotony of modern compositions.
Sandalwood Cologne has enormous longevity and is undoubtedly one of those classics that bestow every gentleman with an aura of understated elegance.

It's really beautiful - nothing like the current fragrances that all use that unpleasant, greasy sandalwood substitute. I don't find it that masculine at all; I enjoy wearing it myself...

I bought it blind and was surprised. One of my best blind buys :-).

"Massive" is a very fitting description. I like it, but not all the time. It's very mood-dependent.
