I love herbs and use herbs for cooking almost all the time. Fresh or dried, depending on the season and availability. And I love lavender and had three varieties on my balcony, of which I unfortunately still don't know if they survived the winter. Vanilla is definitely a must for my desserts, wonderful. And I also love citrus fruits.
But what the good Xavier Torre has done with the herbs, the bergamot mentioned above, vanilla, and orange blossom makes me think more of a cooked ham that has been hung up to smoke in juniper. Something is definitely present here in an overly strong dosage that causes this strange smell. It can't be lavender, and orange blossoms smell different in my memory!
However, the greeting in the first 10 seconds was still nice. It smelled wonderfully of fresh rosemary.
But then the smoked meat note came and ruined any further enjoyment of the test for me, as it lingered and lingered and lingered. No orange blossom, no vanilla, no lavender - sorry, my dear Xavier, but this concoction is not successful. I can't imagine that Corsica smells like smoked meat...
