Nose doesn't want to cooperate

Ah, I had so much hope for this fragrance. I'm looking for a green-berry scent with fairy forest associations. Something earthy, but definitely not too sweet. "Enchanted Forest" seemed like the obvious choice. The notes promised such a complex magical scent, and the reviews seemed so promising: fruity tart blackcurrants with resinous greenery that should evoke vivid forest images in my mind.
Now for the reality check: all I smell is the extreme acidity of the blackcurrant, which makes everything tighten up, as if I accidentally drank undiluted juice concentrate. The complex greenery that I expected to be so forest-like and resinous (resins, herbs, woods, patchouli, seeds, and beaver musk?!) merges in my seemingly misguided nose into a basil note. Basil isn't even listed…?
I can hardly believe it, I leave it aside, sniff again: sour, fruity basil. Oh man. Super nice, fresh basil, like freshly picked, but that's it. Except for that sour note.
So far from disgusting, but I miss the enchanting fruity complexity, resinousness, and woodiness that make a forest for me. Apparently, I do need some sweetness to make the fruit feel fruity. Well, at least I've learned something.

Unfortunately, I don't find it as wonderfully woody as I had hoped. However, I recommend trying "Blackbird" - it's very fruity with a hint of good woods and "Cape heartache." For me, it has a beautifully balanced mix of forest and berry scents.
